here’s the album version. i have loved jens lekman for many years now and it’s always a shock when people don’t know about him!! because to me it’s just like yes of course, sufjan stevens, jens lekman, paul simon, harry nilsson, paul williams, etc, these are the good songwriters. god bless u jens.

this is probably jens lekman’s most well known song (i feel like it got a lot of radio play on college radio stations at the time, c. 2007-2008) and even though i’ve heard it many many times it still makes me choked up. part of that is having this same kind of relationship with my little brother, and another part is just the wonderful way that jens makes sunshine tunes laced with melancholic lyrics. “you don’t know what i’m going through...” and... the opposite of hallelujah! what a poetic phrase
