As a youth Jeff Soto discovered graffiti and traditional painting at more or less the same time, and ever since his work has straddled both worlds. Since graduating from Art Center Soto has enjoyed success both as an illustrator and fine artist but also keeps returning to painting on walls, calling himself “a muralist with an occasional urge to do some graf.” Soto’s parents were outdoor enthusiasts and he developed an early interest in nature, reflected in many of the recurring themes in his work, including these large owl eyes painted in 2015 for @PowWowLongBeach on the E Seaside Way, ground-level entry to @LBConventionCtr.  @jeffsotoart/

Born in Fullerton, California Jeff Soto’s creative interests were encourages from an early age, and reflected his interest in plants and animals and his parents outdoor activities. As a teen he discovered a library book on graffiti and street art and a couple of years after he met Max Gramajo, aka Maxx242, the two began painting together. After a decade-long hiatus during which he attended The Art Center, and focused on illustration work, he was inspired to return to painting on walls, and has continued to produce several collaborative pieces with his longtime friend Maxx242. In 2015 the two joined forces for this Prints On Wood curated wall behind Pixel’s Bar and Eatery at Lemon and University in Riverside, California, Maxx painting the left wall with the octopus, and Soto painting the owls on the right wall.  @jeffsotoart​  @maxxer242  @printsonwood​  @pixelsbar
