Listen, I firmly believe Obi-Wan wasn’t the right person to train Anakin. I also believe that Obi-Wan knew this. However, he had taken a pledge to his master AND this realization came to him years into the training process. He couldn’t abandon Anakin - so he tried harder to be what Anakin needed.

In Attack of the Clone, we see Obi-Wan being particularly hard on Anakin. He’s using a fist of authority (that doesn’t come naturally to him). At the time, he thinks that authority and discipline is the answer that Anakin needed to resolve his impulsivity and lead to balance within himself. It’s years later, on Tatooine, that Obi-Wan realizes his error and it fills him with endless regret. 

On a lighter note, Obi-Wan definitely would sneak Anakin to see podraces on Tatooine every now and then! He would tell the Council that he has important business on the sand planet <3

          THE  HILT  OF  THE  SABER  BALANCES  IN  THE  PALM  OF  HIS  HAND   /   much  akin  to  the  very  forces  treading  the  fine  line  between  good  and  evil .   it  is  what  they  are  ;   two  halves  of  the  whole  ,   he  the  shining  light  among  the  darkness  that  plagues  a  faceless  tyrant .   the  weapon  brandished  at  his  hip  ignites  ,   an  expulsion  of  viridescent  light  illuminating  attire  in  molten  shades  of  green .   luke  carries  his  piercing  stare  across  the  cold  ,   ruthless  curvatures  of  vader’s  mask  ,   as  if  he  were  to  stare  long  enough  he  would  find  a  man  beneath  the  armor     (   to  me  ,   father  ,   you  were  never  dead   -----   and  you  still  aren’t   ) .

          “     no .     ”          HE  IS  STUBBORN  ,   MUCH  LIKE  HIS  FATHER  BEFORE  HIM .   except  this  time  it  is  assigned  with  a  desperation  for  falsehood  ,   the  flesh  of  his  lip  trembling  with  the  denial  still  fresh  upon  his  tongue .   luke  doesn’t  want  to  believe  it  ,   that  his  father  is  the  one  bathing  his  fingers  in  blood .   from  the  wondrous  tales  of  adventure  ,   and  the  deep  compassion  for  the  jedi  and  those  he  loved   -----   stories  he  credits  to  ben  kenobi  for  enlightening  him  with   -----   luke  knew  the  shell  of  a  man  he  is  now  isn’t  who  he  is   .  .  .   no  ,   it  couldn’t  be .          “     i  don’t  believe  you .     ”

mr vader, hottest and therefore deep fried and crispy sith,

their turn from corridor's entryway to him is exaggerated, the twist of their boot's sole on ancient stone punctuating a decidedly pointed silence.  incredulity is communicated without words,  an  ‘ are you fucking serious ’  made elegant with a turn of the eyes and raising of brows.   “ be careful of what you chase,  skywalker, ”    they warn, resting a hand on their hip,  “ glory makes for dangerous prey and sloppy predators. ” stars like them are radiant, massive things in the force, pulling countless into orbit, deciding fates through sheer proximity, but they are not ships in the night. they are as much victims of gravity as they claim to be masters of it. his easy confidence strikes a chord within them, eliciting an urge to reach out and shake the jedi until something else falls out.
