"Merry Christmas, Auntie Thea!"
If Oliverâs sister Thea was in any way startled by the way her nephew launched himself at her or his sonâs enthusiastic greeting after he opened the door, there was no sign of it on her face. Instead, Oliver could see she was all grins as she wrapped her arms around William. âMerry Christmas!â she replied. She took a step back and breathed deeply. âYour dadâs been busy cooking?â
William nodded. âThereâs more than enough food for Christmas Eve dinner tonight, and for Christmas tomorrow. Are you really spending the night tonight? Dad said you were. Oh--I should go help him some more. He was going to teach me how to properly mash potatoes.â
âAnd you donât want to miss that,â Thea said. She followed William into the kitchen, where she greeted Oliver with a kiss on the cheek. âMerry Christmas, Ollie. If only the bad guys could see you now.â
âThey might be very intimidated by my chocolate souffles,â Oliver retorted, setting down a spoon and wrapping Thea in a hug. âHi, Speedy. Glad you could make it. Just drop your bag anywhere and Iâll take it to your room after.â
Thea set it down, along with the bag of presents sheâd been carrying. âYouâre not going to make me help in the kitchen, too, are you? Because I should warn you now, I think you got all the cooking skills in the family.â
âFound it!â Felicity emerged from their bedroom with a wine corkscrew held triumphantly overhead. She greeted Thea with an embrace. âAnd no, weâre leaving the men to cook while we start in on this incredible bottle of wine I can now open.â She made quick work of the cork, then poured two glasses, leaving a third wine glass empty for now.
Happy Birthday @jedichick04 â¤ď¸

Why I Left Fandom and Why I'm Now Back
For 27 years, I spent every waking day knowing I was different. I was "weird", I didn't fit in. After high school, making friends was difficult. I didn't click with anyone, I was nerdy, I tried too hard... I spent over 10 years looking to find people that understood me. It wasn't until I got into comics that I truly found people who understood who I was, and why I was the way I am. Comics led to Fandom, and Fandom equaled life. People understood why I was the way I was, they understood my obsession, they understood my need to write these characters in different ways... Fandom understood ME. And it excited me, it challenged me, it made me feel important. Until I was accused of being essentially, a âdouble agent.âÂ
Finding out that people believed I could and would do something like that, was like getting smacked in the face. I've never, EVER been someone to cross others. I believe in confidentiality, almost to a fault, and I keep secrets better than anyone I've ever known. To know that some people in this group thought, that because I didn't agree with their opinions, I would turn around and "tattle" on them, hurt. And it hurt really bad.
I won't name names, because I'm not that childish. I won't point the finger and call people out. I will say, this experience made me realize that fandom isn't a "safe" place. I realized, I have to keep my guard up, I have to be aware of who I trust. And that realization cut me to the bone. Because I thought for sure I didn't have to have my guard up when I was with people that were like me, people that I trusted to accept me for me.
Shortly after this entire thing happened, I pulled back from the world of fandom. We were still well into hiatus, I lost one of my cats who was essentially my child, my sister in law suffered a miscarriage and nearly lost her life, my husband and I were going through stuff because of money and stress, and I was hurting. Hiatus ended, and I tried my hardest to get back into watching, but the depression tightened itâs grip each time I tried to I press the Tumblr app. Soon enough, depression took over my life. I couldn't find happiness in anything, no matter how hard I tried. My job was suffering, my marriage was suffering, and the thing I loved so much brought me nothing but anxiety. I was so beyond fearful that I'd open my page one day and find that these people told the world that I was tattling, and everyone would hate me. I figured if I just melted into the darkness everyone would forget about me, and soon enough it would all just blow over.
But. That wasn't the case. Mainly because I met my best friend through fandom and she never gave up on me. She messaged me every week about Arrow, gave me insight into what was going on in the fandom world, listened to me complain about my depression, and reassured me that she would always be there. She wasn't going to just let me escape. It's because of her that I'm back right now.
For months, I've sat in the background, I've avoided Twitter and Tumblr, I haven't watched Arrow live since season 4, episode 2. I'm months behind on episodes, I have no idea where Olicity stands right now, and I've missed a world of fics. But. I'm ready to put everything behind me, I'm ready to tell my depression to fuck off, and I'm ready to face the world of fandom again. This time I may be a little more guarded, and I may be hesitant to put myself and my writing out there again at first, but I hope that one day I'll be once again smiling and happy to press that post button.
So thank you to those of you that have stuck around, thank you to those of you who have messaged me and asked if I was okay, I'm sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Thank you to those of you who I still am in touch with (Dawn (@millennialfangirl) - your help with my bookshelves was beyond words). Â And a special shout out to Rachel (@jedichick04) who has pushed me for the past few months, who has not given up on me, and who has kept me up to date on all the ongoings of fandom. I love you more than you know, and I am beyond blessed to have you in my life. <3
"Oliver, why does my mother keep looking at you expectantly?"
(I also got a request from celticsparrow517 for Donna/Oliver interaction, so Iâm combining that with this prompt.)
âWhat?â he asked, looking around the ballroom of the Starling Grand, the site of tonightâs charity gala. Â
Donna Smoak was standing across the room, talking with . . . Captain Lance? Â He gave his head a shake, then noticed how Felicityâs mother kept glancing over at them. Â And . . . was that a wink?
Turning back to Felicity, Oliver almost laughed. Â Because like mother, like daughter. Â Felicity looked just as expectant as Donna did, only for a much different reason. Â His girlfriend just wanted to know if he had any idea why her mother was acting strangely; his girlfriendâs mother wanted to know when he was going to make Felicity his fiancee. Â
It had seemed simple: tell Donna he was going to propose--and this time, he wouldnât let anything stop him from asking Felicity--and . . . not exactly ask for her permission, but maybe get her blessing? Â Because he didnât know much about what Felicity had told her mother about him, about them. Â And he knew Donna was important to Felicity and vice versa, and they were still rebuilding their relationship and perhaps Donna would feel like she was losing Felicity all over again . . .
But to his surprise, Donna had been thrilled. Â Overjoyed. Â She had hugged him before pulling him down to kiss his cheek, leaving a bright pink outline of her lips on his skin. Â âMy babyâs gonna get married to the love of her life!â Â
Donnaâs words had made him smile widely, because . . . because it just sounded good. Â It felt good, knowing that he was the love of Felicityâs life. Â
The only problem was, Donna was clearly eager for him to pop the question. Â So was he, but he wasnât going to do it in public like this. Â No, he wanted to have a measure of privacy when he asked Felicity. Â
But . . . but he wanted to ask her. Â Now. Â He didnât want to have to come up with some reason for Donnaâs behavior. Â He just wanted to ask Felicity to marry him. Â
So he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the ballroom, feeling his heart rate increase. Â He wasnât nervous, though--he was excited. Â
Because in five minutes, he would have the answer to a question that had been in his mind and his heart since he met Felicity. Â A question he might not have always been conscious of, but a question that had been there nevertheless. Â
A question he was finally going to ask, right now.
End.

These are all super awesome things! And high five to a fellow pianist! I really need to play more than I do.
Hey! Thatâs so cool! And I know what you mean. I have my keyboard with me, but itâs kind of shoved in a corner and a bit of a pain to get to. So, I havenât played in a while, but I do miss it. The few times I wish I had a bigger place, haha.
