I spent so much time on the background I was SO DONE with it that I kinda phoned in the flags on Jean and Venti :( that or I can't render flags properly which is also likely 😅 Background was super fun though. Jean and Venti are covering a part that has a lot of pride decorations, but w/e it's almost 4am I need to sleep XD

“Oh? Has my dear Acting Grandmaster come to visit me again?”

Jean’s eyes are closed as she stands under the cool, sprawling shade, letting the gentle breeze wind through her hair, flutter her coattails, and rustle the branches of Vennessa’s great tree. A moment later, she hears a light tap of air and quick footsteps, and when she opens her eyes, there he is, smiling at her.

“…Venti. I hope you’re doing well.”

“Same to you, Captain Jean. The breeze from Cider Lake is sweet today, so anyone should be in high spirits! Although, you look rather troubled.”

Jean shakes her head—it’s really nothing. Simply several small headaches, and a stack of official paperwork: nothing that fresh air hasn’t already helped. The explanation starts to leave her lips, but Ba- but Venti just winks, whispers shhhh, and pulls her by the hand towards the base of the great tree.

“Come, Dandelion Knight. Sit with me, listen to my songs, and lose yourself in my ballads, just for a spell.”

omg omg jean ships :D jean is def one of those characters who I feel like I can ship with anyone, bc she's open-minded enough that there's hardly anyone I think she'd reject out of hand, but principled enough that there's still some spicy tension

I haven't thought as much abt jeanxiao bc I'm currently the most invested in xiao when he's with his yaksha siblings and zl, but jeanven is still probably my personal pet favorite jean ship

as one of the few people in mondstadt who knows venti's true identity, I feel like jean derives comfort from knowing her god is prancing around having a good time in the city she's in charge of :) even if he can't help her with paperwork and fatui diplomacy and stuff like that, he comes around to say hi and sing her his little songs sometimes

also from his least favorite food line, he doesn't like melty sticky cheese, so I think he'd hate pizza which is jean's favorite food LOL he goes to the cat's tail, sneezes his ass off, and buys a food he personally hates to bring to jean to cheer her up on a bad day

I also think that venti kind of knew who jean was as a person before they even met. he was very close with gunnhildr and vennessa, and he hears all the comparisons people have between them and jean, and he understands how heavy those legacies probably are on his shoulders...
