Rewatching all the smosh summer games (cuz I have hope for it to come back again this yearâŚ) and this moment during ssg camp always gets me. Because tell me why Anthony thought Ian was going to pick him off of his OWN TEAM??

Imagine you're Jacksepticeye, you've been a successful YouTuber for years and you're looking to semi-retire. Then you're invited to Smosh to do some tabletop games and feature on their other channels as well. The cast and crew are super nice and you feel so welcomed. Could this be your new home?
You pitch your idea to Ian. You would make videos for your own channel and for theirs, all in the Smosh HQ. In true Scottish fashion, Ian's face is hard to read. But then he high-fives you and does a very bad top of the morning impression, and you laugh about it. When he looks at you, you notice: Ian's eyes sure are blue...
But before you can ponder on that any further, a tattooed guy pops his head around the door. Ian's office has windows into the hallway ~ which is a bit weird ~ so this guy probably saw you high-five. He looks a combination of unsure, trying to be nice but you also sense tsundere energy.
"Hey, Jack!" He teases. You remind him that your name is Sean. "But then why are you called Jacksepticeye?" Wow this guy is a himbo, but cute, in a 'guy who likes to paint' kinda way.
"Well, why aren't you called 'Smo' if your channel is Smosh?" You righteously counter. It makes Ian laugh, which seems to annoy the guy, who is obviously called Anthony.
Anthony worms an arm around Ian's waist as he looks at the paperwork you and Ian had been studying. "So, you're joining the family!" He sounds happy but squints a little in your direction.
"Only after we talk it through with you of course, ya dummy," Ian teases him. You feel uncomfortable by the sensual tension filling the room.
"Oh of course, I'm in! Jack- Sean is a great addition to our Games channel!"
"He's also doing Try Not To Laugh this week."
This is when you jump in. "Yeah, why don't you also join, Anthony! I really miss your humor on all the Smosh channels."
Flattery seems to work on him, as Anthony blushes. But he does makes some vague excuses as to why he can't make it that day.
"Alright, I'm going to chat a bit with Shayne and Courtney now!" You excuse yourself and flee Ian's office, which feels much too small for the three of you.
You can't help but look around and see Ian and Anthony practically on top of each other, balancing on one chair, doing God knows what. What ARE they doing? You forget that you're staring. You see Anthony giggle as Ian is showing him something on his phone. Anthony's arm is still wrapped tightly around Ian's lower waist. Ian is... Resting his head on Anthony's shoulder...
"Poor, repressed millennial Americans," you pity them. At least Dan and Phil are living their truth back in England.
Suddenly, Spencer rolls up behind you with an even worse Top of the Mornin' than Ian's. You snort. Smosh is a fun bunch.
Everyone really seems to like jealous!Anthony huh? Do you wanna hear about when Anthony went to Kateâs university reunion?Â
Anthony looked around the room a little interestedly, heâd never been to the University of Lincoln before and he was more than a little curious as to where Kate had spent her younger years. Kate was standing a little distance from him talking to her friend whose name Anthony was a little embarrassed to say he didnât quite remember, Caitlin? Maybe? And Anthony felt a little proud as he watched his beautiful wife, happily engrossed in whatever she was saying, her hands flailing around a little wildly and smiled. He knew that Kate was feeling a little self conscious about herself having just given birth to Edmund six months ago, but she was truly stunning, even in this dim lighting, she hadnât even wanted to come tonight sayingÂ
âAnthony, I really donât want to stand in a room with a bunch of people I havenât seen in nearly ten bloody years, especially looking like a whale!â Anthony had scoffed and it had taken him a good 90 minutes in their bed to convince her that she certainly looked nothing like a whale.Â
Anthony shuffled his way over and she heard Kateâs friend whisper,Â
âHonestly though Kate, I canât believe youâre married to Anthony Bridgerton, you lucky bitch! Heâs... jesus christ. And the way he looks at you is...â Kate laughed brightly and said
âMmmm god, Donât let him hear you say that! His ego is certainly big enough.âÂ
Anthony had stopped, still some feet from Kate. Not eavesdropping, that would be undignified of course, it just seemed a little awkward to pop up out of nowhere when they were clearly discussing him. A man whistled next to him, and Anthony started a little, too focused on Kate to have seen the man approaching. The man was standing, his shoulders squared making him just slightly taller than Anthony, running his hand through his blonde hair, his square jaw set, his eyes trained on Kate, darting around appreciatively.Â
Anthony instantly felt a spark start in his chest, an ugly, angry little emotion. His brow furrowed.Â
âGod, she still looks amazing.â the man whispered appreciatively to Anthony, who was now eyeing this man distastefully. What kind of man said that to a perfect stranger. Anthony huffed.
âCaitlin?â Anthony said, hedging his bets, more than a little hopefully. The man scoffed.Â
âNo, Kate Sheffield. God, she was always pretty fit, but sheâs really filled out in some of the key areas, you know what Iâm saying?â This infuriating man turned to Anthony clearly looking for camaraderie. Anthony stood, stony faced, anger flaring in his chest.Â
âWe fooled around a little, but I think itâs time I manage to seal the deal.â And he had such an infuriating smirk on his face that Anthony had to clench his fist to stop himself from punching it right off his face, even as the jealous monster in his chest screamed for retribution. He was sure there was a look of pure hatred etched on his face as he listened to this man objectify is wife, the mother of his child. The man suddenly seemed to take Anthony in, his eyes widening in surprise.
âSorry, Mate, You look familiar but I canât remember you name. Iâm David Warner.â He smirked, holding his hand out Anthony stared down at it disgustedly. And at just that moment, wonderful amazing Kate looked up and called out.
âAnthony, Honey, stop standing over there awkwardly and come talk to me!âÂ
Anthony felt the monster in his chest do something startlingly like a purr, and his anger ebbed away. He turned back to David, with a smile on his face feeling awfully smug at the suddenly anxious expression he saw there. He finally took Davidâs hand, squeezing it very tightly
âAnthony Bridgerton. And Sheâs Kate Bridgerton, now. Mate.âÂ
Anthony walked over to his wife, and swept her into a very demonstrative kissÂ
Hey I love your work and universe sooo much! Itâs so well written and I love how intensive it is. I initially thought it was one-shot when I read ur AU fic. I was wondering if you could do some headcanons about jealous!Anthony? I know you gave us some material but I wld love to see more
Oh Thank you so much! Honestly, Iâm very knew to writing, Insufferable was only the third fic Iâd ever written, and Iâd certainly never done anything like this before, and honestly, Iâm sure people are starting to wish Iâd left it at that!Â
Iâve done a tiny touch of Jealous Anthony in this post but hereâs a little touch more of it
Anthony did not consider himself a jealous person, but something about Kate seemed to make everything about him spiral desperately out of control. Anthony was frowning as he watched Kate cooing over her ridiculous dog, who was currently wearing a tiny little argyle sweater. Kate Anthony said firmly, attempting to get his girlfriendâs attention. Kate didnât hear him, sheâd pulled her phone out and was taking pictures of the pudgy corgi who was sitting posing smugly. Kaaate Anthony sing songed. Still nothing. Irritation flared in his chest as he glared at Newton from behind Kate, Anthony irritating himself further when he realised he was bloody jealous of a Corgi. I wouldnât have bought the bloody matching sweaters if I knew this was going to happen! Anthony muttered darkly to himself and it was of course then that Kate called back Did you say something Honey? Anthony internally cursed the fact that he was saddled with this dog for the rest of his life.
Anthony decided that he despised Michael Stirling in a very natural manner. The incident in question happened at his motherâs birthday party. Kate was heavily pregnant with Miles at the time, and Edmund was running Anthony ragged, sprinting around the garden after Daphneâs daughter Amelia, Kate and Daphne are both sprawled on lawn chairs when Anthony hears it. Kateâs laughter is floating across the lawn towards him, he turns, already smiling expecting to see Kate laughing with his sister, something that always made his heart burst with happiness. Instead, he sees something that makes jealousy curl ridiculously in the pit of his stomach. Michael Stirling is standing between his wife and sister smiling his stupid, golden globe award winning smile as he passes them lemonade. He takes the small fan from Daphneâ hand and begins fanning them, Daphne and Kate both laughing approvingly. Well, Thatâs... something he hears his Brother-in-lawâs voice at his side and turns stiffly to see Simon, tugging his daughter by the hand, Anthonyâs son trailing behind in the other. Mmmm Donât much like it. Anthony says, crisply. Nor Do i Simon says frowning FRANCESCA! They both yell out at once, startling the assembled crowd

It would be totally awesome if I could have some Ianthony with jealous! Anthony. Where Anthony notices that Ian has said "I love you" (platonically) to everyone but him.
Ian/Anthony (platonic) - Say it
--
Itâs a stupid game and Anthony is actually really glad heâs not in this video because Ian is awful at successfully flipping the red Solo cup and every time, he fails Chanse succeeds and the shot glass in the middle inches ever closer to Shayne. Eventually, Shayne and Ian lose and as Shayne preps to take the shot, Ian stands behind him, looking a tad embarrassed and regretful. He reaches out and squeezes Shayneâs shoulder comfortingly.
âLove you, buddy.â
Then Shayne downs the shot of half apple cider vinegar and half pickle juice and everyone around Anthony is laughing, but Anthony feels a tiny bit shellshocked. Did he hear that right? Did Ian just say he loved Shayne? Anthony knows it is platonic, but he still feels a little sting of jealousy, a sting that heâs quick to try and reason out of himself.
Heâs feeling possessive because heâs still new here. Ian got close to Shayne while Anthony was gone. Ian is still his best friend. It mostly works and when the video is over and the cast goes off set, Ian comes to Anthony with a grin on his face.
âWhat did you think?â he asks, his eyes big and bright.
âYou all did a great job,â Anthony says, and he means it, âglad I wasnât on your team.â
Ian gives a little laugh, âYeah, poor Shayne. Gotta love the guy though, heâs a trooper.â
Anthony forces himself to smile and nod. âYeah, he definitely is.â
--
A few days later Ian and Anthony are sitting on the newly renovated Flashback with Smosh set. Theyâre set to film some bits and pieces for the trailer. Anthony is still thinking of the shoot from the other day and a little ball of what feels like dread drops into his stomach. Anthony decides to test the waters with Ian during this shoot.
In the script heâs supposed to give Ian a fist bump and call him his best friend, simple enough, but Anthony knows in his heart heâs going to go off script. Their director yells action and they run through their scripted lines. Anthony looks at Ian and curls his hand into a fist, Ian mimicking the action. They fist bump and Ian smiles, Anthony does too, a real and genuine smile.
âI love you, buddy,â he says affectionately.
Anthony sees Ianâs eyes look confused for just a split second before he smiles and returns it with an âaww.â Of his own.
They call cut.
âDecided to improvise a little?â Ian asks, though he doesnât sound like it bothered him.
âYeah,â Anthony says, masking his disappointment, âwas that, okay?â
âYeah, man,â Ian says with a quick and easy smile, âof course it was.â
They move on to the next shoot but the ball of dread only feels heavier in Anthonyâs gut.
--
Another day and they are all eating lunch together spread across several white circular tables. Ian and Anthony are seated next to each other at two separate tables and Courtney is next to Ian. They are all three reminiscing about the past, about the beginnings of Smosh, things Courtney remembers from when she used to just be a fan. Courtney says something self-deprecating which makes both Ian and Anthony laugh, but then Ian is leaning forward and wrapping Courtney in a hug, squeezing her as she laughs.
âStop, Courtney! I love you!â Ian says, as if heâs trying to squeeze the deprecation out of her.
âOkay! Iâll stop!â she says laughing and pushing him away.
Again, Anthony canât help the jealousy that shoots up inside of him.
--
They film a board game with Arasha and during a break Ian makes some jokes at her expense and she deadpans about being an orphan. Ian laughs and wraps an arm around her shoulder, âOh stop, you know I love you. Youâre my son.â
--
There is the time when they are leaving for the end of the day and Spencer is staying late to help produce that Thursdayâs livestream. Ian affectionately ruffling Spencerâs hair and saying, âLove you, dude, donât stay too late, okay?â before he leaves the games pod area.
--
Finally, Anthony canât cope away his jealousy and he knows this is one of those things heâs going to have to bring up to Ian. He waits until the two of them are alone in Ianâs office, which has become their office. Ian is checking emails on his phone when Anthony clears his throat.
âCan I talk to you, Ian?â
Ian raises an eyebrow, but he nods, âOf course, man. Whatâs up?â
Anthony takes a breath and thinks of a hundred different ways to casually and calmly bring up what is bothering him. They are all infinitely better than what he ends up word vomiting out.
âHow come youâll tell everyone else here that you love them but you wonât say it to me?â
Thereâs a brief silence and Anthony can feel his cheeks warming up.
âWhat?â Ian asks, like he barely understands the question.
âYouâre always telling Shayne, and Courtney, and like, Spencer that you love them but when I try to get you to say itâŚyou donât.â
Anthony knows it sounds stupid, but itâs how he feels.
âIs thisâŚa bit? Did Erin put you up to this?â
No, Iâm serious. Look, Ian, I know it is so dumb that I am jealous, but youâre my best friend and I donât knowâŚI feel like we should say that to each other more.â
âOh,â Ian says. He sets his phone down, âAnthony, Iâm sorry. I didnât even realize it was bothering you.â
Anthony shrugs, âYou know, just enough to talk to my therapist about it a couple of times.â
âReally? What did your therapist say?â Ian asks, like heâs actually interested.
âThat I donât own you and youâre allowed to love whoever you want and express that how you want and Iâm okay with that! I am! I donât know why Iâm jealousâŚI just, I guess I want to make sure that when youâre saying you love people, that Iâm counted in that too.â
Ianâs face softens. Anthony knows Ian hates this shit, that feelings still leave him feeling too tender and exposed, but he also knows Ian is trying.
âAnthony, I do love you, man. Of course, I do. Youâve been my best friend all my life.â
âThen why-â
âBecause I never thought you needed to hear that from me. I just thought you knew,â Ian says, âIâve been telling the others because of you.â
âBecause of me?â Anthony asks.
âBecause I donât want them to think that just because you came back that I only want to spend time with you and that they donât matter. Iâve been trying to be more open with my feelings around here because I want to be able to communicate better with you.â
âOh,â Anthony says. He feels dumb, very dumb, and very childish.
Ian stands up and then he moves to where Anthony is seated. Anthony stands up because he feels like he should.
âAlright, youâre really pushing me out of my comfort zone here,â Ian mumbles, his face getting red. He opens his arms, pulls Anthony in for a hug, wrapping his arms around Anthony and squeezing just a little.
Anthony hugs back, he canât help but smile into Ianâs shoulder.
âSo, for the record. I do love you; you know that right?â Ian says into Anthonyâs shoulder.
âYeah,â Anthony says, giving Ian a squeeze in return, âI love you too, buddy.â
2. "I'm so fucking pissed." - Ian/Shayne | Ian/Anthony
--
Anthony is back at Smosh for three whole months before he finds out about Ian and Shayne. The worst part is that he didn't find out because Ian bothered to tell him, no, he found out because he happened to see them together.
Anthony and Ian had been working late at the Smosh office alongside Josh as they finished up the vocals for a song they planned on incorporating into one of their future sketches. Ian had stretched and glanced at the clock before he sighed.
"I actually gotta get going," he had said.
"Oh?" Anthony started, taking off the headphones as he had looked at his best friend, "What's up?"
"Nothing serious, just dinner plans with a friend," Ian explained, "and if I don't leave now I'm going to be late."
Josh offered his hand in the air for Ian to give him a high five, not quite tearing his eyes away from the music program he had pulled up on his computer.
"I'll be in normal time tomorrow morning if I need to re-do anything," Ian explained as he high fived Josh. Then he moved over towards Anthony, giving him a bright smile and a quick side hug that Anthony only just had enough time to return.
"Okay, man, see you later," Anthony had said, the headphones hung around his neck. Ian wasn't obligated to tell him all his plans, but he hadn't mentioned a dinner at all when Anthony asked if he didn't mind staying a little late tonight.
Anthony picked up the headphones and was about to put them back on when he noticed Ian's phone sitting at the edge of the table they had been working at. Anthony had rolled his eyes, taking off the headphones fully before he went and grabbed Ian's phone.
"I'm going to try and catch him," Anthony had explained to Josh as he hustled out of the room, hoping to catch Ian before he left the parking lot in his car.
Ian was in the parking lot by the time Anthony had caught up to him, but he wasn't alone. Shayne was there, his own car parked next to Ian's, his stocky frame pressing Ian up against the side of his own vehicle. Shayne had a hand cupping Ian's jaw as they kissed slowly, familiarly, in the studio parking lot.
Anthony had stood there dumbfounded, Ian's phone slack in his hand. He doesn't remember exactly what had happened next. Whether he made a sound or whether Ian could sense him there, but either way Ian looks up and catches Anthony's eye.
He and Shayne break apart like they are suddenly burning each other.
"Anthony!" Ian said, breathless, his face red. Shayne looked at the ground, unable to meet Anthony's eyes.
"You, um, forgot your phone," Anthony had explained, holding up the device as proof of his reason for being outside, for seeing what he did.
Ian, still beet red, strode across the parking lot and took his phone from Anthony's outstretched hand.
"I-" Ian started, looking up at Anthony with worry.
"Your dinner," Anthony said, trying to keep his voice neutral.
"What?" Ian had said, confusion lacing his voice.
"You're going to be late, remember?" Anthony had said, trying to play it cool though his insides were swirling like he had just ingested something toxic.
Ian had nodded, had turned away from Anthony, "Right."
Then, Anthony was gone, back inside the office, not willing to let the scenario play out in front of him.
--
That was three days ago. Three days where Anthony and Ian didn't talk about what happened, what he saw. Anthony had finished out his session that night with Josh, trying to pour himself into work and forget what he saw outside in the parking lot.
The next day he worked on his solo channel, not going to the Smosh office. He didn't talk to Ian at all. His mind reeled, haunted by what he saw, his body and mind trying to digest it, process it, make sense of why the image of Shayne and Ian kissing was making Anthony feel like he swallowed glass.
Deep down, he knew why, he just didn't want to give it a voice.
Anthony had saw Shayne and Ian kiss on a Monday evening. He wasn't back in the office until today, until Thursday. Mercifully, Shayne happened to have the day off, but Anthony knew he would see Ian. He had half-expected Ian to text him after the incident, try to explain or...apologize? For what, Anthony wasn't sure. But Ian never texted and now Anthony sat stewing in the conference room.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. How could Ian keep this from him? Why did it not come up? He had so many questions and Ian had all the answers.
There was a knock on the door and Anthony looks up, not bothering to school his expression of annoyance when the door opens and he sees Ian poke his head into the room.
"Selina said you were looking for me?" Ian asks, as if it is not obvious, as if he didn't just blow Anthony off for three days.
"Can we talk?" Anthony says, more curt than he means to, "In your office?"
Ian swallows thickly, but he nods, swinging the door open and heading towards his office, Anthony trailing behind him.
They walk silently to Ian's office. Thankfully no one else happens to be around at the time as Ian holds open his office door to let Anthony pass through before he follows after, shutting the door behind him.
Ian stands nervously in the room, looking somewhat like a child who is about to be scolded.
"Look-" Ian starts with a sigh.
"I thought we were going to be better with this whole communication thing," Anthony says, cutting Ian off.
Ian blinks at the razor sharp tone of Anthony's voice.
"I'm sorry, I just didn't think it was a conversation we should have over text. I didn't even know if you wanted to talk about it or just pretend it never happened."
"Of course I want to talk about it! You were making out with an employee of ours!"
"I-" Ian falters, "I know there's, like, dynamic shit, but it isn't weird really. Shayne was the one that asked me out and it's been almost a year."
Anthony's heart drops to his feet. Almost a year? Anthony and Ian had reconnected about ten months ago. All this time, all this rebuilding of their friendship and Ian had said nothing about the fact that he was dating Shayne?
Jealousy seeps into Anthony, feeling like it's choking him. His best friend, Ian, had hid something so big from him. They were supposed to be open and honest with each other and already Ian was keeping secrets.
"I'm so fucking pissed!" Anthony snaps, he watches Ian flinch. "I can't believe you didn't tell me!"
Ian scoffs, "Sorry, I didn't realize I have to tell you when I'm dating someone."
"Maybe when it's someone who works for us?" Anthony bites back, "Is he the first or have you been hooking up with other employees?" Anthony snipes.
A wounded look crosses Ian's face, "It isn't like that. I...I know it sounds fucked up because I'm technically his boss, but I lov-"
"Stop," Anthony says, verging on desperate, "I don't want to hear it."
"Look," Ian starts, stepping closer to Anthony. The older of the two feeling like he wants to cry. He's angry at Ian, he's hurt, he's sad, and jealous, all this poisonous feelings creating a storm in his body. He wants to leave, he wants to be as far away from here as he can be, but what would that do? It would be like before, when they ran from conflict instead of talking about it, but this topic, Shayne and Ian, it is the last thing Anthony wants to hear.
"I'm sorry. I should have told you. I just...he and I started kind of dating right when you and I reconnected and everything was new on both sides. I didn't want to rock the boat either way, so I kept it from you, until I knew where things might fall with Shayne."
Anthony closes his eyes, "And now?"
"We're good," Ian says, softly. Anthony feels like he's been punched in the gut, "he makes me happy, Anthony."
Happy. Ian deserves to be happy.
Ian steps closer, his hand seeking out Anthony's shoulder.
"I want us to be okay too, Anthony."
Anthony squeezes his eyes shut tighter, takes a deep breath, then he nods, looking at his best friend, the most important person in his life. He swallows past the thick rope of jealous that feels like it's strangling him.
"We are...we will be," He admits, "I just, I want you to tell me things."
Ian nods, "I'm sorry."
Anthony, he loves Ian, he does, probably too much judging by the pain that ricochets through him. He loves Ian and he wants Ian to be happy. Who is he to complain? He left. He gave opportunity for Shayne to grow closer to Ian. He wasn't there and Shayne was. He has no one to blame but himself.
"I forgive you," Anthony says carefully. He touches Ian's elbow and watches his best friend smile in response. "And I'm glad you're happy."
I like the idea of it because imagine all this time people have been shipping Ian with Anthony and Anthony makes a big to-do about how much he hates it, but then they start Sm*sh games and start building friendships with the other cast members and then people keep bringing up Ian and Lasercorn and Anthony at first is relieved because he doesn't have to worry about shipping, but then they are doing videos where it feels like punishments are designed to make Ian and Lasercorn pair up, and when there is a team situation Ian keeps picking Lasercorn and not him and he can't help but feel little pricks of jealousy inside of him over it. Ian is his best friend and he is surprised to find he doesn't like someone else touching on Ian, hands on shoulders, brushing his hips, watching him dance like an idiot with eyes trained on his butt. It is a big realization for Anthony, and maybe he starts acting a little petty over it. To the point where Ian notices it and approaches Anthony one day to be like, "Dude, lay off of David."
Anthony is mad that Ian is telling him to back off.
"I didn't do anything! You're the one being weird with David."
