I hate heading home. I always tell others that I'm off to meet up with great friends or to run a very important errand. I remember a stage in which I would bring a change of clothes to work and after my shift get dolled up in the women's bathroom. I'd march out in my pointless heels and tell the manager when she asked "where are you going?", that I was off to the movies or dinner or something. I never was, not in those days at least. Worse, when I got home I felt the need to explain to my parents that my outfit change was just because I couldn't stand to wear khaki's for that long. No one could ever know that I was lonely or else I would lose my magic.
