First week at work and he’d already been assigned to one of the people there, or subjects as they kept telling him to call them. And as he walks through the door he hadn’t expected such a harsh welcome. Not that he could blame them, he knew what they did here wasn’t really humane and who knows what the last person who walked in here had done to them.

“Hey, I’m Joseph, I’m new here and I am assigned as your care taker.” He said, as if reading from a card, which he practically was, they had told him what to say when he entered the room and he had said it. Word for word. He felt uncomfortable as the subject stared at him, “What’s your name? I need to call you something.”
