"get out of my sight." from james
@jbeauforts
There's an anger in his voice she isn't accustomed too and it has her physically flinching back. As if words had cut through skin. Not even in the beginning, when they'd been at odds, had he looked at her like that. And it breaks her heart even more than what he'd done with Elaine in the pool at Cyril's. Ruby's lips purse and twist, biting so hard on the inside of her cheek that she tastes blood, trying her very best not to cry. She's so tired of crying. It feels like she's done a lifetime's worth in the last twenty-four hours.
And yet, it's nothing compared to what she knows he's feeling. Because despite the anger, she can see the anguish swimming in the ocean-blue depths of his eyes. He doesn't mean it. He's just lashing out. But understanding it doesn't make it okay.
"If you keep going like this you're going to push everybody who cares about you away, James."
