WRITING A JAZARA CHILDHOOD SCENE AND OH MY GOD THE FEELS
Sorry for the lack of detail. I tend to just like actions and dialogue but in defense, I was improvising. I tend to do that with one shots.
Azara almost gave up looking for Jack. But she just so happened to see a familiar white-haired Guardian on a frozen lake during her walk home. She stood and watched as Jack appeared to ice skate, something she never seen him do before.
She watched in awe as Jack used his cane to create beautiful frosty patterns as he skated-it was hypnotic!
“Enjoying the view?” a familiar voice called.
Azara blinked, realizing that the lake was deserted. Confused, she turned around but squealed when she saw Jack just inches from her, smirking. “Jack, don’t do that!”
He laughed. “Sorry, Zara but it was a lot faster than walking through the snow on skates.” he said, motioning towards his feet with his cane.
She managed a smile. “I’ve never seen you do that before.”
“The lake was never thick enough with ice until now.” Jack shrugged.
“It was beautiful.” Azara admitted. “The way you moved and those ice patterns?”
Jack blushed. “Years of practice.”
Azara looked back at the lake, admiring his work. He landed next to her, taking her hand in his. “You wanna try?”
Her widened eyes landed on his handsome face. “Me? Ice skate?” The mere though made her laugh. “Jack, are you kidding?”
Jack narrowed his brow. “What’s so funny?”
“I never skated before in my life! No way will I do that!”
“Not even with me?” Jack squeezed her hand, his blue eyes softening.
Azara looked down at her feet. “Maybe…I’m just such a klutz! I’ll just be on my butt the whole time because you’re too busy laughing at me to help me up.”
It took all of Jack’s strength not to laugh. He settled for a smirk instead. “I promise, I won’t laugh at you. I’ll hang onto you the entire time.”
“Promise?” Azara questioned, knowing Jack and his way with lying.
“Cross my heart.” he said, doing the motion with his finger.
Azara narrowed her eyes at him. “All right...”
“Come on Zara! It’ll be fun!” Jack insisted as he slowly lifted them off the snow covered ground. Together, they floated towards the lake.
“Um, Jack don’t I need ice skates for this?” Azara asked.
“Well duh.” Jack held up a pair of pink ones.
She cringed. “Ew! You know I hate pink!”
The Guardian rolled his eyes. “Zara, don’t be picky. No one will see us. And besides, I think you look good in pink.”
Azara’s cheeks turned red. “You do?”
He nodded. “Now come on! Let’s get started!”
Azara reluctantly put on the skates and with Jack help, she stood up onto the ice.
“Now the first part is gaining your balance.” Jack explained as he held both of her hands, standing in front of her.
“I have no balance.” Azara corrected him.
“Zara don’t be so negative. The key is to keep an open, positive mind.”
She groaned.
“Please? For me?” Jack begged.
She thought for a moment, seeing an opportunity. “I will for a kiss.”
Jack rolled his eyes but floated up to Azara, pressing his lips against hers. After a few moments, he pulled away. “You can have more later.” he said.
Azara blushed, smiling. “I better.”
“But let’s get some practice first.” Slowly, Jack skated backwards, taking Azara with him.
Immediately, she lost her balance. Without Jack, she would have fallen on her face. “It’ll take some practice.” he reminded her.
“If only the ice weren’t so hard,” said Azara, “then I wouldn’t have such a problem with falling.”
Jack smiled. “Don’t worry, Zara, I won’t let you fall.” He snuck in a quick kiss. “I promise.”
Azara blushed again. Jack always seemed to be the only one who could encourage her to try new things. With enough convinces, she’d even go bungee jumping as long as he was with her.
“If you weren’t so cute, I’d be inside right now.” she said, making him laugh.
For the rest of the day, Jack slowly guided Azara along the ice and she only lost her balance about a thousand times. If it weren’t for Jack, Azara would have been bruised from head to toe.
By the time late afternoon came, Azara had enough. “Okay, I think that’s enough ice skating for one day.” she said.
Jack led her to the side of the lake. “I think so too.”
They sat down so Azara could remove her skates. “I had fun though…despite all the times I fell.”
“But I hung onto to you the entire time so technically you never fell.” Jack argued.
Azara smiled. “You saved me a lot of bruises. Thanks for that.”
He returned the smile. “You’re welcome.” He looked at the sky, seeing a sun about to set. “Hey, let’s get a good view shall we?” As he spoke, Jack lifted himself into the air with Azara in hand. He found a tall tree where they both sat on a sturdy branch to watch the sunset.
“Jack without you I wouldn’t be caught dead doing this.” Azara said she moved in closer to him.
“I admit, it helps when you can fly.” Jack said. He turned, facing her, adding, “Why do you hate heights so much?”
Azara focused on the sky. “I always have, ever since I was a kid. I just don’t like falling and the higher I am, the more frightening it gets.”
He squeezed her hand tightly. “Zara, you know that I’ll never, ever let you fall, right?”
“Of course,” she said, their eyes meeting. “I know you would always protect me. I just wish I could fly sometimes because honestly, I love the sky and high places but the whole gravity thing tends to ruins it.”
Jack chuckled. “It does, doesn’t it?”
“At least I have you to thank.” Azara said. “Without you, I’d be missing out on this amazing view.” She focused on the view again, seeing all the vibrant colors from pink to orange to purple. “Gosh, I love sunsets.”
After a few minutes, Azara noticed something out of the corner of her eye. She frowned dully. “Jack, are you serious?” While she was admiring the sunset, Jack tied a mistletoe to his cane.
“What?” he shrugged, trying to look innocent. “It’s a classic! We have to!” He adjusted to where the mistletoe hung just above their heads.
“We can kiss without that thing you know?” Azara asked him.
“I know but…” He lightly tapped the mistletoe against her forehead. “But it’s Christmas time!”
“Fine.”
Jack rolled his eyes. “I’m just trying to be romantic.”
“You don’t have to, Jack.” said Azara. “I already like you.”
“Well what if I’m trying to get you to like me even more?” he asked, leaning in
“Then it’s working.” Azara confirmed just before their lips met.
