So I found out today that JayisGames is no longer going to be updating.
I don’t mind telling you that JIG was a major part of my life from about 2007/2008 to 2011, when I got my first laptop. After that, my visits started to peter out a bit. I still checked back every so often, though, often to find old favorites. I never commented, but it was a super great site. A damned shame.
I remember when Firefox 3 came out, Jay posted an announcement that they were dropping Internet Explorer 6 support. I tried to upgrade to IE 7, but ran into major issues, like, use a restore point major issues. I emailed Jay about it, and he recommended Firefox 3. I tried it, and never looked back at Internet Explorer.
JIG is also where I found Jonas Kyratzes, a great artist and an even greater friend. My first game of his was either Infinite Ocean or Desert Bridge. Can’t remember which. Either way, I’m glad it happened.
Something you have to understand is I grew up poor. Hell, I’m still poor. I was lucky to have a PC. Consoles were basically out of the question. It was either free games I found online or nothing. I’m exaggerating, but only a little bit. Money limited my choice of games early on, lack of system power obliterated it later on (I was using that same damned PC for about ten years, give or take a year or two, and it was probably close to low end when we bought it). JIG was a major source for this. In my earliest online days, it was Addicting Games, and that got dropped when I discovered sites like JIG, Newgrounds, and some weird site called Gamershood.Those were the three main ones I used.
I will be eternally grateful to JIG for all the joy they brought to my life. Thank you, all of you at JayisGames, because you really did help make me the man I am today (I hope that will be more of a compliment in the future).
