 the  chamber  is  dark    .    the  fire  crackles    ,    and  the  rest  of  the  group  have  their  own  conversation    ,    leaving  her  and  jaime  to  converse  for  themselves  where  they  sit    ,    on  one  far  end  of  the  semi - circle    .    it’s  warm  here    ,    and  she’s  more  than  happy  with  her  new  appointment    ,    but  it’s  been  an  hour  now    ,    at  least    ,    and  the  threat  of  the  white  walkers  loomed  high  over  her    .  

 ❝      i  didn’t  ask  if  you  remembered  it    .      ❞            she  leans  over  her  seat    ,    elbows  rested  on  top  of  her  knees    ,    oathkeeper  and  its  sheath  still  settled  in  both  of  her  hands    .    she  had  forgotten  about  it  these  past  few  seconds    ,    and  had  busied  herself  looking  over  the  decorated  scabbard  absentmindedly    .    at  the  sound  of  his  voice    ,    she’s  pulled  out  of  her  reverie    .    blinking    ,    she  straightens  up  again    ,    tilting  to  set  it  on  the  ground  and  propping  it  against  her  chair    .

IT HURTS. 

     fate is a cruel mistress, and bronn should never had let his heart get so opened by this beautifully smug man. jaime will always belong to another. their time together has meant nothing. bronn knows his value. he is a fighter, a survivor, valued at his services. he doesn’t have a soul, so he should be unable to love. 

                 and yet. 

he is young and old, tortured by night visions many could never fathom. the former MI-6 agent breathes harshly at the whimsy of jaime’s words. maybe in another life. 

( IN ANOTHER LIFE, they are fated together by lannister gold, by a queen’s wish of saving her daughter. they will not find each other then, either. )

in this life, bronn lets the sadness wash through him for a moment longer before laughing, eyes twinkling with despair and delight. “as if i’d make the mistake of falling in love with you, lannister.” he grins. “m’not like all the other pretty girls.”
