Headcanon that Jason has problems learning his lessons.
When he first came back as Red Hood of course he fought Nightwing a lot and know how strong and capable he is. But when things got more peaceful, his brain somehow forgot what happened and fell for Dick’s elegant gentle love and sunshine act. And when Jason crosses the line again or just the brothers were being ultra annoying and Dick snaps, Jason re-learned it the hard way about how dangerous Dick actually is. Like he’s on the ground and his whole body hurts, and he is in awe “Wow, this is Dick Grayson.”
It takes a few cycles for Jason to burn this side of Dick in his brain. Tbh everyone has to learn it the hard way, simply because Dick’s another image built too firmly in their minds.
