Immitter-- First of all, thanks for taking the time to speak with me. Tell us a little about yourself and how you got started with music. Jay Kellz-- No problem thanks for having me. Well to start my name is Jordan Kelly, in which I took and broke down into the name we all now know as 'Jay Kellz'. I'm a determined type of guy and when a task is put in front of me i'm ready to go and get that done.  No matter what speed bumps or detours are present to slow me down. One important thing you should know about me is that I like to experience everything, go places, try and see new things which reflects back into my music. How I got started with the music? When I was about 10 or 11 my brothers use to have freestyle battles in the basement amongst themselves and friends, and I would always sit back and listen, and always have a little notebook to try and emulate what they would do, jotting down lyrics rhyming words together, you know, the basics. Eventually when I was about 17 a friends from high school use to record his own music with a group of his friends and brought the mic over to my house where I recorded my first song called "Life". IMTR-- How would you describe your flow? JK-- See the word flow is stripped right down to a specific meaning for me, water has flow, air etc. and these flows change up all the time, and that's how I really like to portray my flow, whichever beat I hear fast or slow or in-between, I like to change up my flow a little bit. For instance in my song "Need a Deal" I have a fast tempo flow yet an old school feel to it so the audience can actually zone in and feel what I'm really feeling as well, as to where in "Good morning" I have a laid back slow tempo flow to it to once again match the feel of the beat. IMTR-- How do you stay connected with your audience? JK-- Well I have a Facebook fan page that everyone can check out and 'like' if you search Jay Kellz ( Mr. $hoppa$ide), Youtube if you search Jay Kellz under the username 'Myname190'. Other than that though I havn't really personally connected to a full extent with an audience where to the point I could actually call them "my" you know, I get the positive feedback here and there, but i'm trying to build better and creative songs that will pull in more soon enough know what i'm saying. IMTR-- Who are your musical inspirations and why? JK-- Oh wow thats hard, um I'm going to have to say Michael Jackson, for he is really the first type of music I really actually listened to on a daily basis as a child, I wasn't much into rap back then so Michael was that bridge. I'd also have to say rap wise in a major way 50 Cent. I listened to 50 all day everyday in high school and would want to get muscular and talk like him as well, I know it's crazy, but he was the first rapper I actually took in, and his backstory of struggling and reaching fame witch 1 million records sold in the first week! It was amazing. I would sit back and listen to 50 and try to emulate his rhymes it was crazy. IMTR-- What are some of your goals, musically? JK-- Um I would have to say creating a new and better mixture than my first collaborative one and solo one, and gain a larger audience that would actually dig my music to an ultimate high of respect. IMTR-- What keeps you motivated? JK-- Ah man, my motivation really has to be Drake, and Justin Bieber. Just seeing how hard they worked to make it out into the music world and actually be big names is amazing, that alone serves as a reason to want to write music, go to the studio, learn from other songs, and just overall make myself a better artist. IMTR-- Who are your favorite MCs, past and present? JK-- Good question, and this may take awhile. From the past I will go with; Big L, Nas, Jay Z, 2 Pac, Notorious B.I.G, DMX, AZ, and Lil Wayne. Now Present I'd say; 50 Cent, Big Sean, Drake, Vado, Nipsey Hussle, Tyga, and Cory Gunz. IMTR-- Being from Canada, do you find the music to be different here in the states? And if so, how? JK-- Well yes and no, because in the states I say most of the rappers and their content is drug based, and hood based, and most of these are true stories they are coming up and telling their audience, when in Canada there isn't really much of that, although there are the few that do tend to lie a bit, on the other hand I feel it is kind of harder to the majority of Canadian rappers that believe that's also what there content should rely on and really have nothing sensible to really rhyme about. IMTR-- What do you have to say to all the other artists out there grinding like yourself? JK-- Ah man, first keep your heads up, never ever give up just because some things aren't going as well as they should of been or were going. You gotta make the most out of any and everything and create your own paths to get to where you need to. Also stay true to yourself and where you are from, don't stray into other musicians content and make yourself a ghost to the world creating this fake image, you wont go anywhere. IMTR-- Anything else we need to know about you? JK-- Yes! First and foremost make sure everybody goes and checks out that fan page, that Youtube and don't forget Immitter, and get at me send me messages or comment on the music.
