And so, somebody puts it on the internet, and it goes viral and so now all weâve done is sort of encourage that kind of behavior everywhere we go.
--LSU Head Coach Jay Clark is blaming Samantha Peszek for them having to increase security because she recorded the mob.
I knew he'd have a bad take but... boy that's sure a bad take.
This is relatively minor but Jay Clark also apparently "remembers" Monica Seles being stabbed while signing autographs. Which would be hard to do given that she was actively playing a match and the man ran onto the court.
Book Review #107 of 2019:
Finding Mr. Brightside by Jay Clark.. Rating: 2.5 Generous Stars.
Read on December 11.
This book review wonât be kind. I donât say this because I have bad intentions. I say this because the thoughts that have flown through my head while reading this book havenât been kind. I bought this at a library book sale and it was worth the 75 cents I paid for it. However, this tiny book was packed with a lot of issues.
I donât know how this book got to the market without someone calling it out on its bullshit. Even without sensitivity readers...which this book so desperately needs. There was a lot of slut shaming....a lot. A lot of calling people by their race. A glossing over of an eating disorder and a teenager abusing pharmaceutical drugs. An argument against someone with depression taking anti-depressants which I think is all sorts of fucked up. No, believe me when I say that my rating is me being GENEROUS. This doesnât even address all of the plot issues as well as the fundamental lack of substance.
The sad thing is that this really could have been a hard hitting contemporary romance if the author or editors had taken the time to pull it from the depths. You also have a few really sweet moments that come as a surprise given how negative the main character is twenty-four seven. It also would have helped if this story was taking place while the characters were in college. The fact that a teenage couple is able to take this vacation together in the middle of the school year without a parent losing their absolute shit is a plot hole to end all plot holes. There isnât even an attempt to fill it with parental guilt for other things that have happened in the story.
