I was in the Old Airport / Dakota area for various errands and then took a jalan-jalan to check out the remnants of the Dakota Estate, and walk the Geylang River, along the Geylang Park Connector. Spotted birds in the field that has sprung up in place of the old SIT flats and just took a shot. Looks like some fields in Europe right? Apparently the red are "Ornamental Grasses" - thanks Google Lens! The birds, far off and tiny, are easily identifiable as Javan mynas, probably the most common bird in Singapore. Javan Myna (via @nparksbuzz) "Previously endemic to the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, the Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus) was reportedly introduced to Singapore in the 1920s through the caged bird trade. It is primarily grey with a yellow bill and eyes, and two distinct white patches that can clearly be seen on the underside of its wings in flight.
