"I don't get why Sandy is so hung up on him," Janis muttered. "She could do so much better."
Karen gasped. "Because he was super sweet and charming over the summer! He's only rude because he's worried about his reputation!"
Gretchen quietly sneaked another piece of popcorn, snickering under her breath.
"Nuh uh. Get your hands off my popcorn." Janis glared.
Gretchen frowned. "Just a piece!"
"Gretchen," Janis pinched the bridge of his nose. "I asked you if you wanted any. You said no."
They were having a movie night at Janis' place. They'd had quite a few since he and Gretchen started dating, but not since they both started dating Karen, too. Their relationship with the curly haired girl was still new, but Gretchen really hoped it lasted. She really, really liked both of them.
"I didn't want a whole bag!" Gretchen huffed. "Just like, a piece or two. Come on. Please?"
Janis sighed and handed the bag over, and Gretchen pulled out a handful before handing it back. Karen giggled at them from her spot on the couch next to Gretchen.
"Thank you—" Gretchen whispered to him.
"Shh!" Karen hissed. "This is the good part!"
She returned her attention back to the movie. Her and Karen had plenty of sleepovers as friends on their own, so Gretchen had seen Karen's favorite movie, Grease, a dozen times.
But Janis had never seen it, an affront to Karen that she'd immediately taken charge to rectify by forcing him to watch it.
"I don't get why Sandy is so hung up on him," Janis muttered. "She could do so much better."
