OvenBreak Havoc Chapter 3 - How The Cookie Crumbles
If you asked Jasper what he was going to do that night, he would've said something like play games or finish up some assignments early. Just normal stuff like that. What he didn’t expect was to be sitting next to his roommate and technically sitting across from the ten cookies he somehow managed to bring to life while waiting for some takeout. He still had to figure out how he managed that! He knew Lillian's grandma had some witchy folktale stuff, she even said so herself, but magic flour?! Honestly, Jasper was just glad that the cookies weren't scattered around the dorm where they could accidentally get crushed by something.Â
“Sooooo…does this make me like Frankenstein oooo-Ack! What the heck Lills?!
Shadow Milk didn’t even try to hold back his laughter seeing the smaller witch gently pop the one they’d first seen upside the head. Who would've guessed that witches did the same thing Silent Salt would? Out of all the beasts, Burning Spice was the one with the highest Silent Pop count so far followed by himself. He was a bit surprised that the taller witch didn't get genuinely upset though. Even Mystic Flour would get pouty over it, even if she would only do the bare minimum of a pout!
“Sorry about him…what are your names…? This here is Jasper, and my name is Lillian…”Â
Pure Vanilla was the first to step forward, albeit somewhat behind a wary Dark Cacao. “My friend here is Dark Cacao Cookie, Golden Cheese Cookie was the one that your friend saved from falling, Hollyberry Cookie is the one standing in front of White Lily Cookie with her shield, and I myself am Pure Vanilla Cookie. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He gave a polite bow before squeaking when Shadow Milk popped up behind him with a shout.Â
“Oh silly Vanilly, what kind of introduction was that?! That was soooo boooooriiiiing! Let me show you how it's done!”Â
Lillian watched quietly as the little blue creature, or cookie, seemingly formed a jester's cap from nothing before bowing with it in his hand much like a stage performer would…Jasper visible from the corner of her eye flinching back slightly when the jester tossed it into the air with a flourish causing the cap to burst into a small shower of blue stars that faded into the air.Â
“Raise the curtains for I am Shadow Milk Cookie, the beast of deceit! The beast of destruction who made things oh so fun with glass throwing is Burning Spice Cookie, and the beast of apathy who didn't even try to run is Mystic Flour Cookie!” With each beast introduced, Shadow Milk would fly over and essentially present them much to the exasperation of Dark Cacao. That cookie sure was…eccentric to say the least. He still had no idea how Pure Vanilla handled his confrontation with him. “And last but certainly not least, we have the beast of sloth who slipped right through your fingers, Eternal Sugar Cookie, and the beast of silence who added to the patchwork of slices on that hand of yours, Silent Salt Cookie! Now that, Pure Vanilla, is how it's done.”Â
Jasper couldn't help but laugh softly at such a dramatic display before clapping, especially since Eternal Sugar and Burning Spice had posed to add to Shadow Milk's performance. Even though he could see Lillian didn't react much to it, she had stayed focused throughout the blue cookies antics, so it was safe to say she at least somewhat enjoyed it. If not, she would've ignored him completely. He could see how the blue cookie grinned at the applause before bowing in a graceful manner and sending a smirk towards the smaller blond cookie who simply sighed and shook his head with a soft smile.Â
“Well, it’s nice to meet you all! Sorry about all of…” Poor Jasper looked at the 9 trays of chocolate chip cookies he'd made before these cookies, and all he could think was if offering one to the group would be promoting cannibalism before gesturing a hand to them. “...this…and for kinda screaming at you all when I opened the oven. Didn't exactly expect to find living cookies in there.” He rubbed the back of his head and chuckled in an awkward manner…should he admit that he made them with the apparently magic flour Lillian's grandma sent…? Nah…he really didn't want to get into that conversation right now.Â
“It's no problem! Always pleased to meet some new friends whether they be a witch or a fellow cookie!” Hollyberry, who had dropped her more defensive stance unlike Dark Cacao, smiled up towards the two witches brightly, completely unaware of Jasper pausing.Â
“...Not gonna lie, I would think that Lillian would be the witch…no offense.”Â
“None taken…” Lillian had laid her head down on the table to look closer at the cookies who seemed baffled by the statement Jasper had made. If these two weren't witches, what were they? Were they apprentices? Either way, White Lily relaxed a bit from the statement.Â
“I’m s-sorry if this comes off as rude, but i-if the both of you aren't witches, what are you?” The white haired cookie had come out from behind Hollyberry when she asked with her staff held close.Â
“We're humans…and while some humans are witches, we are not…I'm sorry if the belief we were scared any of you…” Lillian didn't try to move when the timid cookie moved up to her before placing a small hand on hers. Meanwhile Jasper looked to the beast cookies, as they dubbed themselves, and noticed Shadow Milk gained more mischievous expression hearing that.Â
W-Well, it's not like we asked…so there’s no n-need for that.”Â
Pure Vanilla smiled softly seeing his friend relax, even if it was only somewhat, before looking at Dark Cacao who still had his sword raised and placing a hand on it to gently lower it down. After all, besides Jasper's initial scream, neither human had tried to bring them any harm. The taller had simply been trying to ensure they remained unharmed. While Dark Cacao was still distrustful for the moment, he didn't fight against his companions' push seeing how the smaller witch had yet to grab onto White Lily despite her being so close. Things almost seemed peaceful for a moment before Shadow Milk snickered with a sharp toothed grin.Â
“Well considering neither of you are witches, we don’t have to be worried a single bit about you! Especially after I do this!” Jasper let out a sound in surprise when glowing blue threads wrapped around his wrists, ankles, and neck as Shadow Milk floated above him.Â
“Oh this is gonna be fun! Onward, puppet!”Â
Shadow Milk tugged at the thread connecting to his fingers, but instead of dragging the fool of a human along, he let out a yelp when he was yanked back…that couldn't be right…giving another tug, he found that Jasper didn't move a single inch no matter how hard he pulled! What Shadow Milk didn't realize was that his strings worked well on cookies due to being close in size to him, but a human so much larger wouldn't be affected at all. Golden Cheese, Hollyberry, and Burning Spice had begun to laugh seeing just how much the deceitful cookie struggled to pull the human along while Dark Cacao pinched the bridge of his nose with weary sigh and Silent Salt watched quietly. At the same time, Jasper watched as Shadow Milk struggled to try and tug him around. Was this how his dad felt when he tried dragging him around at the amusement park when he was 7? He kinda understood why he had laughed back then now that he was experiencing this.Â
“I'm just gonna get some drinks…you guys like tea? We have some juice too.” Jasper simply walked over to the fridge dragging struggling Shadow Milk along behind him.
“STOP IT! GO OVER THERE, PUPPET!!”
“No, I’m getting drinks, and I’m not a puppet. Name’s still Jasper.”
“GO THE OTHER WAY!!!”
“Nope.”
Eternal Sugar watched as the beast of deceit was dragged about by the human before looking to Burning Salt who had nearly fallen over.Â
“Shouldn’t we help him?”Â
“Why? This is far more entertaining to watch!” Burning Spice was grinning as Shadow Milk shouted…you’d almost think the blue cookie was the owner of a large cakehound with how he was being pulled!
“C'MOOON JUST GO WHERE I SAY!!!”
