Welcome to Fair to Flair.
We’re the writers who bring you the Footnotes of Wrestling, Kick-Out!! Wrestling, PizzaBodySlam, and Wrestlespective. You can read more about each of us in the Colophon. Individually, we’ve all set out to improve the dialogue and discourse regarding professional wrestling. Together, we believe we can.
We’re interested in the evolution of wrestling: from legitimate sport to carnivals to big-time spectacle to misunderstood art form; from fair to flair. We’re interested in how wrestling reflects our culture and how our culture influences wrestling.
What we hope to provide is thoughtful writing and thorough analysis through three major media avenues:
The Blog: At least one daily new article that progresses the conversation. These may come in the form of reviews, analysis, and debate, but we want them to be different from what you are used to seeing.
Podcasts: In addition to Kick-Out!! Radio, the Footnotes of Wrestling, and Wrestlespective Radio, we’re launching the Fair to Flair podcast, a roundtable show covering issues and events. And we have other shows in the works.
Quarterly: Every three months, we will be publishing a journal of longform articles and reviews for purchase. More information on this groundbreaking series will appear later this week. It’s the first publication of its kind.
We’re wrestling fans who have done our research, not jaded insiders or copy-and-paste parasites. Rumors, ratings, spoilers or instant punditry don’t particularly interest us. We’re not going to fly off the handle about John Cena’s moveset or the latest Internet darling being “buried.” You won’t see misleading tabloid headlines or desperate tactics for web hits. We’re not looking to make a quick buck–we’re looking to change things.
And of course, we’ll need our readers and listeners to support us, to challenge our thinking and to provide us with encouragement and feedback. The Tumblr Ask Box is turned on, and you can reach us anytime at [email protected]. You can also find Fair to Flair on Twitter and Facebook.
Thanks for giving us your time, and we hope you’ll enjoy what we have to offer.
