Ā Bramanteās Tempietto, San Pietro in Montorio on the Janiculum. Local legend had it that this was the site of Peterās crucifixion.
What if Olwyn had been a normal baby when Victory and Aelynthi got her in Janiculum? Like maybe born from a surrogate or something? What would that have been like for her?
That is an interesting idea! With how petitioning for a baby works, likely Victory and Aelynthi would have to co-parent with another elf who would be willing to carry the child. Which means Olwyn would have been born and raised by three parents rather than two, which is a fun dynamic in and of itself.
She wouldnāt have had the same fears about her magic, which would mean sheād pursue it more openly and wouldnāt know not to show off. Sheād definitely be a more carefree Olwyn, without all that emotional baggage of her past.
Sheād still want to stand up for others, and sheād probably pick up on Aelynthiās dislike of the ruling system and agree with him. I donāt think sheād become a peacekeeper though, since that was a job she takes in Janiculum for the strict purpose of being in a higher ranked position to help with her and Kelās cause.
Likely she would have become a very skilled healer or become a dancer with her fire magic (many wanted her to apprentice with them in Janiculum for her control and the way she manipulated flames) and her becoming a dancer could lead to lots of family drama with everyone remembering Nithroel, which could be fun.
Sheād probably join the rebellion eventually, and would act as more of a spy.
Thanks for the ask!
This probably sounds odd but I always remember that scene in Janiculum where Aelynthi and Victory catch Olwyn doing magic, and she's reflexively afraid that they will react badly, even though she knows intellectually that everyone around here can do magic. That is usually the first thing that comes to mind when I think of your writing!
Ooo that is so awesome, I am so glad that scene was so memorable! It was a scene I spent a lot of time on, and meant a lot to me in building up Olwyn as a character.Ā
Salasan
Ok, here he is, Olwynās mystery man in Janiculum. He still wonāt appear for a while, but now youāve all got a name, and I can write about him in other capacities.Ā

How would Aelynthi and Victory feel seeing and knowing Olwyn's Inquisitor past?
Devastated.
Not that sheād lied to them (which I mean, she hadnāt, she just never told them what happened and they never asked) but devastated for the world that was to come, and how Olwyn had been treated in it.
Olwyn is their daughter, and even at the age sheād been in at the end of the events that led up to her being sent back in time, still a child to the ancient elves. A baby who had to do so much to try and save the world, who was mistreated by her own birth parents, and society, and and...Aelynthi wants to murder someone but the people he wants to kill most especially donāt exist yet.
Victory...Victory has a lot to process. Heās a loyal servant of Elgarānan, and heās never questioned the way that the Evanuris have done things even when parts of it made him uncomfortable, not like Aelynthi has. Seeing how everything turns out, knowing how the Evanuris corrupted so badly, seeing what it all wrought and the state of the world in the end...there is a lot he has to think about, in terms of how he views the Leaders and if they really care about the People at all. He isnāt going to deny it, but heāll want to, for a while.
Itāll still take some convincing before heāll decide that they need to fully rebel or anything.
Aelynthi is already sharpening a pitchfork.
Add in to them learning that Olwyn and Lavellan have killed Andruil and FalonāDin at this point? Well, first theyāll be horrified to know their little baby and her baby friend killed two of the Leaders, and a bit in awe, and more than a little unsure how to proceed with their insanely powerful time-traveling daughter and the fallibility of the all-powerful rulers of Elvhenan.
And then of course going to Melarue and Faunalyn and the two just like, āUh yeah, we knew about that since she was about sixteen, weāre also part of the rebellion to tear down the establishment,ā and well...itāll be quite a time.
Thanks for the ask!
Does Olwyn from the modern janiculum au ever meet her birth family again? And did Elgar'nan do something after Victory informed him why he couldn't come to work the afternoon Olwyn tried magic again?
She does! I plan on getting into this more in the College/Frat AU, but yes she does. Itās after sheās started working in the medical field. Her youngest brother Tomos gets into an accident and the family brings him to the hospital, not knowing that Olwyn works there. It is...a very jarring experience. The only member of the family that Olwyn ever has any semblance of a relationship with is her younger brother Drystan; he ends up leaving the family because he marries a mage and then tries to find Olwyn to patch up their relationship. The rest of the family remains distant and hateful.
Victory didnāt give Elgarānan any names to go off of, so Elgarānan didnāt go out and murder Olwynās parents which is probably a good thing only because Tomos and Drystan would have seen it and Drystan at least is a good soul. Victory also kind of wanted to do it personally, if murders were going to happen. XD When Victory told him he needed a day off because Olwyn was having a panic attack, Elgarānan was totally cool with it. He sent Olwyn presents afterwards, and came over to visit much to Aelynthiās consternation.
Thank you for the ask! :)
WIP Time
I was tagged by both @empresstress13 and @lycheemilkart, so Iāll post two little WIP samples.
First is from the upcoming chapter of A Tale of Sand and Smoke:
She scaled the net ladder with calloused hands, rope worn and sturdy, and the finesse of one accustomed to it after years at sea rather than some innate grace. The heavy ropes barely shifted in the wind, and Rhaenys had learned to move with their gentle sway long ago.
She remembered how terrified Septa Lemore had been, the first time Rhaenys had climbed up to the top. Sheād gotten stuck in the crowās nest, too afraid to climb back down afterward. Sir Connington had gone and fetched her, and sheād been scolded so thoroughly and her pride so wounded that no one had suspected sheād try again.
But she had, and sheād been rewarded with several blisters the second time around, and Sir Connington was tasked with fetching her once more, because sheād frozen up at the top once again.

And second we have a snippet from the upcoming chapter of Janiculum. I promise everyone, Iām trying to get this out. XD
āVery well,ā Purpose moves forward, āLet us begin.ā
Olwyn frowns, āI already told you, Iām not taking you with me. Itās too risky.ā
Purpose pauses, body rippling, small motes of light drifting beneath its surface. āI understand. But you will need power to defeat FalonāDin. It is best that you take mine now.ā
It takes a few moments for Purposes words to sink in. The air around the two spikes with confusion and anger and she realizes it is her own before she tamps it down. āYou want me to sacrifice you?ā
āIt would be for the best. I would be fulfilling my purpose,ā Purpose answers.
āNo.ā Olwyn shakes her head. āNo. I am not sacrificing anyone, Purpose. That isnāt the kind of person I want to be. Youāre my friend, Iām not going to kill you just to gain power.ā

Thanks for the tag! Iām tagging anyone that would enjoy doing so.Ā
