My current read for the #MRDRC20 is one of my favorite authors. He can do no wrong in my eyes. • • James Baldwin. • Funny story: When I was deployed to Iraq in 2004 (the second time), I had run out of books to read during my downtime. I was to be deployed for a total of 12 months this go round. I decided to write emails to all the publishers that published black authors that I read at that time. I emailed every single one of them. My request was that they send copies of books for the troops out there to help us have a morale booster while being deployed. They answered! Boxes and boxes and boxes of books came! Some were even signed! However, one particular author emailed me directly and asked what books of his did I want him to send. His name was Baldacci. In my mind I remembered seeing that name. Then it hit me! That’s the name I skipped over every time I was looking for BALDWIN.
