I was working on my fifth album when I started talking to Chase. I could tell right away that he was a pretty genuine guy. Eccentric, but genuine. I don't know, his energy kind of reminds me of VHS cabinets and the Cold War, if that makes any sense. Anyway, one night while I was in the middle of recording a track, I took a break and started talking to Chase about the use of ambient music in his films. It was only hours later when I realized I had accidentally recorded our entire conversation. After listening to it and hearing the passion in his voice, I decided to use a portion of it, without his permission, in the track titled "OPE." It wasn't until months later after I released the album that I informed him that his voice had been heard by thousands and thousands of people all over the world. Chase is a pretty paranoid guy, so when he found out that I recorded him without his permission, he was pretty ticked off. But after hearing himself, he seemed to really enjoy the track. I think he enjoys it because he can hear the sincerity in his own voice. I made this music, but really it's Chase's.
