I never knew I needed her to be adopted by a grumpy pirate until it happened. Their relationship is so loving and supportive. I love that they both know that the other has done things that are awful but they don’t try to make the other feel bad for having done them. They know that they did what they thought was the best thing to do at the time and don’t really put any stress on it. ALSO MAY WE TALK ABOUT HOW THE UPGRADE FROM UNCLE TO FATHER STATUS THREW ME FOR A FREAKING LOOP!?!? I was so not expecting the change in their relationship but I really do love it.  I actually think it’s more fitting for them based on how they are with eachother.  Meg adores her pirate dad so much and I am so exicted to see them continue to interact.

“You know you’re one of my favorite people in existence.  You’re the perfect blend of …everything.  I like that you can be ruthless and calculating but you can also be refined and gentle when it’s needed. You’re smart and witty and charming but you can also be quite terrible if the right nerves are pushed.  I used to believe that people had to be one way or the other–it actually made me feel pretty crummy since I don’t really fit on one side or the other, but then I met you and I don’t feel so alone anymore.” And she meant that in more than just moral standing.
