sometimes i get really sad about getting asks like this... are peoples tastes so whitewashed, whether it be movies, or books, or celebrities, or whatever... that they need ME, some random person on the internet, to recommend them musicians of color? 

But at the same time, I understand that people grow up in their own little bubbles, I mean the majority of music i listen to is the Spanish music my parents played for me when I was growing up, so I obviously can’t blame white people for their lack of diversity in taste.... but also I was diversifying my music tastes when I was like 14, listening to the music my friends, teachers, cousins, and others listened to... Like how closed off are some white people to other cultures, like how much of it is coincidental, circumstance, or just flat out racism... idk it’s just such a weird thing to always get asks like this, like I have to hand hold peoples hands to just EXPLORE, especially when there’s SOOOO much good music out there, it’s just heartbreaking

But also you could just as easily just be curious about what i’m into, and already listen to some of these musicians already, but there ofc is no way to know which is why i think these asks can get so grating sometimes hmm..
