I'm laughing now too BUT ALSO TAKING THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SAY that Ed Kemper in Mindhunter deserves literally every award for acting there is

holy hell yeah it’s been 4 days and i’m still feeling haunted by his performance. 

dude knocked it straight out of the park. every second of him talking is just so fascinating and unsettling, where you have this sensation of feeling yourself sliding into sort of liking him or thinking he’s harmless but with always this underlying sense of danger that keeps peaking in little moments where you’re like “holy fuck what’s he gonna do???” and you can absolutely tell how the politeness freezes people from reacting to those alarm bells (like, no way would you just sit still for brudos or speck to touch you, nevermind helpfully mimic how to slice your throat, but kemper’s frankness is somehow so incredibly disarming that you stay put) and then the climax of that conflict at the end and both the actors just sell the whole thing completely

holden’s reaction wouldn’t work if kemper didn’t viscerally unsettle the audience the same way, if you hadn’t gotten to feel for yourself that crazy, paralyzing mix of emotions, so like ....hats off to the guy for pulling that off because wow

You have such a lovely/sensible view of rejections, it is deeply heartening, and perhaps one day I too will be able to look at them so smartly. Goals!

I won’t say there isn’t that brief moment of feeling like I have been PAINFULLY DUMPED WHILE IN A ROOM FULL OF SCORNFUL ONLOOKERS, every time I open the email -- writing is always personal! rejection of writing often feels guttingly, nauseatingly like a rejection of your most authentic self! -- but the trick is to take a few deep breaths, absorb the sting, and remind yourself that it’s not personal in the slightest.

and then, if you’re me, you reread the story while murmuring soothing reassurances at it as though it’s a child with a skinned knee. 

No you have a skillset I am in AWE of and super envious of: creating pretty graphics. There is something so succulent about that set and it made me have emotions and want to write a bunch of ridiculous Hal AUs--of which, oh dear, we have SO MANY
