— (#금요일밤) —   Back in 2008, Euijin had auditioned for JYP along with a few other names in K-Pop. She had passed the auditions and stuck with the company until about 2011, ultimately moving to her current label where she debuted with her group. Despite the years that had already passed, Euijin still tried to keep in touch with old friends. Sentimentality wasn’t exactly something that hit her hard but something about her first ever music label still stuck with her.            She wasn’t that close to much people that were still in JYP since most her friends also switched labels. She was acquainted with some of GOT7 and their leader was one of them. Both being strong dancers, they would get on the same wavelength at given times back when they were trainees, but Euijin was too young then to get past the level of acquaintances with him. These days, though, she deduced that she found something that could possibly get rid of the ever-present awkwardness between them.

Sooyoung sighs once as she stares at her phone screen. Her fingers are tapping at it mindlessly, even if it’s not unlocked and she’s just staring intently at her lock screen. Partially because her puppies are just that cute, partially because she’s expecting a message and is afraid she’ll just not get anything if she puts her phone in her pocket. Time seems to be going backward, seconds seeming to tick away from noon, rather than towards it.

She had received an email from her manager a few days prior about a new TV show pitch where they would pair random musicians together, and that SM Entertainment had put her forward due to her skills as a lyricist. It was specified, however, that this would only come into play if the show actually went on air, for this, her and her - still unknown - partner would just have to pick a song, any song, and cover it as a duet. Sooyoung was psyched.

She’s counting down the last few seconds to noon, watching her email notification pop up mere moments after the numbers on her phone change to display 12:00:00. She presses down on the notification, hurriedly scans her fingerprint to unlock her phone and watches the email unravel before her eyes. Her partner's going to be... Im Jae Bum. She's somewhat familiar with the name, has listened to some of his group's music, but she's been out of touch for a bit and can't recall what company he belonged to again. A contact number is displayed underneath the name, followed by a café in Gangnam district where the two are supposed to meet up in about an hour or so.

It doesn't take Sooyoung long to ride her car to the location, making sure to find a table as far away from the window as possible, she couldn't use yet another dating scandal in her life, she's still not really over the Won Bin incident, and a meeting with a male idol's enough of a base for Dispatch to work off. As she waits for him to show up, she decides to send him a message over Kakaotalk, laughing softly to herself as she types and sends the words out.

10. If you could go back in time, would you still pursue your idol career under your current company or would you opt for another company?

YG has given me so much from the beginning so I don’t want to go back and say I would’ve gotten a better experience in a different company. I’m thankful for getting into the company I’d always dreamed of being under and thankful for everything they keep giving me. I don’t know where else I would’ve fit in so well.

20. Name one factor that inspired you to become an idol. What is the pay, the fame or the passion?

Honestly… it was the passion. I knew from really young that this was what I wanted to do. Music felt like me. It was everything I wanted and I was lucky enough to get it and get the freedom to be able to explore the kind of music I want to do. 

24. Is being an idol a career choice your parents have always been supportive of? What was their initial reaction when you announced to them you wanted to become one? Have they grown to support you?

She was soaked. Absolutely soaked. The downpour had seeped through her jacket, her facemask and her cap which she pulled off as soon as they entered the convenience store. Very convenient this time more in it’s shielding them from the rain than it’s shelves of snacks. “I don’t know about you but…,” she wrenched the clingy wet facemask away from her mouth. “I don’t think I’ll make it…  At least my eyeliner is still intact.” Thank you waterproof eyeliner and decision not to wear fake lashes today. As shallow as it sounded that last thing she needed was black streaming down her cheeks.

“Ggomo, Ggomo, Ggomo-ya~ Oppa’s going to come play with you. Aren’t you excited? You should be. I am!” chimed Wheein as she waved the feline’s paws with her own hands. It rested in her lap, a blank expression on his face-- which wasn’t new. It also wasn’t new that he ended up smacking Wheein straight in the face. “Hmph-- fine. You can stay over there till he arrives. You should feel lucky he’s even coming to play with you,” she retorted with a huff and scrunch of her nose. 

Which didn’t last long. Never did. After all, Wheein was far too weak to her son’s charms. All he had to do was roll onto his back and look at Wheein in a way, and he had her wrapped around his paw. “You’re an asshole, but I love you.”
