ă âď¸ ăâ âDo not think I have met witcher woman from other schools,â While it had been hard to distinguish her as a witcher due to the dark brown eyes slightly obscuring the cat-like pupils and she carried a halberd, that could easily be chalked up to a difference in schools and techniquesâ The Bat School to the Far East only carried daggers and mostly relied on far-ranged bows, for example.Â
    There was no mistake, however, with how the brown-haired one moved with precision, having the knowledge and taking down the water hag with such skill, that she was a witcher.
    Golden serpent eyes flicked down to the medallion she possessed, one in the shape of some sort of bird of prey, beak open fiercely as if it were screeching at any monster that dared approached.Â
    âAch, School of Griffin, perhaps?â she said, heavy accent causing her words to sound stiff, motioning towards the silver badge. âHave heard this.â
Completed commission for @thren300 of their Witcher OC Jadenah! Thank you so much for commissioning me again!

â when i cut my finger, i bleed. thatâs human, right? â
@jadenah
Sonja studied the woman over her goblet, weighing how she wanted to respond to best reassure the witcheress. The philosophy of what made someone human was an argument almost as old as she was. She understood how mages or witchers would find themselves wondering if they were human anymore, when commonfolk and nobles alike treated them as something different. Sheâd heard the words spat at them, dripping with poison and the sneers....sheâd seen it all. Sheâd seen men that had beat their wives and claim they were still human, better than the passing beggar. She spared the beggar but drank her fill of the husbands to teach a lesson about hurting those weaker than you to assert your own power.
âThe concept of humanity will drive you mad if you fret over it for too long. Iâve seen kings commit terrible atrocities and call themselves human, Iâve seen mages sacrifice everything to protect a lone child, Iâve seen widows pick up a sword and protect her only son from being taken to war.....theyâre all human in their bones and blood because human is a subjective term, the same as monster is.â She answered at last, draining the last of her wine then setting the goblet down on the tabletop.Â
Sonja gives her a moment to think before she speaks again, âYou were human at the start, you are no less human now. Mutant they might call you, but you protect them from that which goes bump in the night and turns them all into frightened lambs....they envy your bravery and fire. Do not let them take it from you child.â
Thereâs a special sort of irony of Sonja calling her child, when she looks like she could be a few years younger than her but its the agelessness in her emerald eyes that hints sheâs not human. The vampiress gives a wry smile before she rises from her feet, moving into the crowd of the tavern and just like that she appeared to vanish into thin air, leaving the witcheress with her ale and several gold coins left on the table to buy her a good meal for the night. Sonja doesnât know her or trust her, but sheâll show mercy to the witchers that cross her path out of respect to the ones she does know.

      Ben smirked at her. He was a coy man who knew what he wanted. He often had easy luck with the women of the castle---the men, too, when the mood struck him---and considered himself a fair catch. He was a newly made bachelor in the middle of his mortal prime, and always shot his shot when he felt there was a chance to be had. Mutant or not.Â
âPlay nice,â he chuckled at the snark in her tone. He leaned back against the backrest of the bench and hooked his elbows over it; while he did not touch her, his hand now rested in the area her back would be if she leaned backwards. âThis seat wasnât taken, was it? I just wanted to sit for a while. Enjoy the view.â The bench faced a wall, though on that wall was a painting. Perhaps that was what he was talking about.Â

â memory is more often a curse than a blessing â

@jadenah
Much as he agrees with the statement, he has found the worst of his memories kept him alive thus far. Though he has precious little in the way of pleasant memories, to begin with.
âMemories have a way of keeping you alive. Even those that are cursed.â Atreyis stokes the campfire as he continues, gaze fixed on the flames kicking to life. âWithout them, we are mere husks of flesh and bone awaiting death.â
â Men are fools, men are frail, give them the rope and theyâll hang themselves. â
Quotes taken from Hadestown the Musical, part V :
@jadenah
He chuckles, finding the statement quite on the nose. For the creatures of this realm at least. The so-called humans especially so. âI cannot argue theâŚfrailty of the creatures here. Where I come from, one does not suffer foolishness or weakness. You either learn to survive or die.â
