Sweet Pea glanced up from the table, his eyes dancing over the patrons around the bar. Until his gaze landed upon a particular individual. They didn’t seem to notice his gaze, however, as they seemed to stare straight past him.
But that wasn’t the case, their eyes met his, and a smirk slipped onto his face. (Y/N). He tilted his head to the side, leaning on the wall beside him, raising an eyebrow at them, setting his bottle on the table nearby. They glanced him over, smirking, before turning their gaze away from him once again.
This had been going on for nearly a week now, he’d known (Y/N) since he’d joined the Serpents, but their friendship became this. Flirting silently across the bar, glances stolen at random. It was a dance, and it seemed almost never ending.
Sweet Pea wouldn’t call this a chase. No. This was merely a game. For the both of them. He shifted his weight, picking up the bottle and taking a sip, glancing around the rowdy group around him. The people playing pool, the people drinking and laughing. Their little slice of perfection in the Southside.
His eyes were pulled back to the bar again, their eyes were back on him. He kept imaging them together, somewhere away from the Whyte Wyrm. Just the two of them, a dark lit place. Or his place, or their place. Somewhere where it was just them and them alone. He set the bottle down.
He wasn’t paralyzed by this gaze, by their eyes on him. They sparked this curiosity in him that he couldn’t explain, and yet here he was, waiting. For a sign, for an invitation to their world that he seemed oblivious too. But he wanted to know about it.
Maybe the reason it never went any farther than their game was because it seemed like he was too desperate, or maybe it was because it was simply just a game on their end. His shoulders shifted backwards as he watched them set their drink down and turn to face him, crossing their arms over their chest.
This was it. The answer at the end of every night. Their eyes pulled to the door, then back to him, an eyebrow quirked on their forehead. He glanced to Fangs, towards the other Serpents that were around a table, playing their own game, before looking back to them.
It took a second but Sweet lifted the beer bottle to his lips, finishing off the last of it before pushing off the wall. (Y/N) smiled, pushing off the bar, and headed off out the door of the Wyrm.
Sweet Pea moved through the bar, making his way around the people, and across the floor, this could be it. This could be the deal breaker here, or endgame. He wasn’t sure which, but this had to lead to something right?
It had almost been ten days of this going on, this was it though, what he was waiting for. An invitation. He was no longer left on the outskirts of their playing field, he was part of it now.
The cool air greeted the raven haired Serpent boy, as he glanced around the parking lot.
“You’re quite the looker Sweet Pea.” He turned his gaze over his shoulder. Leaning against the wall of the bar, stood (Y/N). Their gaze wasn’t on his face however. He raised an eyebrow.
Their gaze was on his backside. However, when he turned around, their gaze rose to meet his eyes.
“(Y/N), you having fun with our game?” He asked, watching as they pushed off of the wall, one arm over their chest, holding their side. Their other arm was bent, one finger diagonal across their lips, elbow resting on their opposite hand.
They began to circle him like a predator, slowly, eyeing him over, as if contemplating this hunt.
“It’s always fun when it’s a game.” (Y/N) looked upwards as him, raising an eyebrow, smirking. “Wouldn’t you say so?”
He had to admit it, he was a little turned on right now.
“I would say so.” Sweet Pea replied, as they circled him again before stopping in front of him, looking up to him.
“You’ve been interesting. Silent conversations are always intriguing, maybe you can give me something verbal to keep me around.”
“Like?” Sweet Pea loved the look in their eyes. They were this orphic being, a word he’d learned from Jughead. They were mysterious, and entrancing. They were beyond ordinary understanding and he loved it.
He knew so little about them, but they brought in his interest, beyond just physical appearance. Jughead talked about them sometimes but being in now he was even more interested.
“Good question. I think we’ll just have to keep talking for a while.”
He kept imagining a dimly lit place, just the two of them. Or his place, or theirs, anywhere but the Wyrm. He loved the place, sure, but it wasn’t the greatest place for conversation for the most part.
“I guess we will.” He eyed their hands as they shifted, slipping them into the pockets of their leather jacket. He could see their Serpents tattoo poking from the collar of their shirt.
He’d always wondered where it was, but he made a mental note, on their collarbone.
“You wanna get out of here? Go for a walk in Southside?” Sweet Pea asked, his hands jammed into the pockets of his jeans as he tilted his head to the side, watching their every move.
(Y/N) smirked again, though it melted into a half smile as they watched him and looked back towards the bar, as if contemplating his offer.
“It’d give you a chance to talk with me.” His voice carried in the wind as they smirked, tilting their gaze down then back to him.
“That it would Sweet Pea.”
Now it was his turn to smirk as he awaited their final decision.
“Alright. I’ll go for a walk with you. I didn’t know Serpents liked walks.” They teased as he rolled his eyes. When they turned to head towards the street, his eyes dropped now.
Quite the looker.
“You coming Sweet Pea?” The way they said his name was intoxicating, and it drew him even deeper into their mystery.
“Right behind you, Sunshine.” The nickname slipped off his tongue, as he stepped off the curb, following along behind them, easily catching up to them with his long strides.
“Sunshine?” They asked, looking up to him, raising an eyebrow as he gave them a rather devilish, yet award winning smile.
“What can I say? I think its fitting.” He teased, as they rolled their eyes.
“You were totally staring at my ass back there.”
Sweet Pea chuckled. “Just returning the favor.” He glanced to them, noticing the smile they were trying to suppress, and grinned.
Being a part of their world was going to be amazing.
