Jackson Gregory wrote more than 40 mysteries and westerns in the course of his career.Â
The identity of the cover artist of this Popular Library reprint is a mystery: it doesn't look like the work of prolific collaborators "Im-Ho" (H. Lawrence Hoffman, Robert M. Holley and Sol Immerman), who designed or co-designed most of the publisher's early paperback covers. Nor does it resemble the well-known work of Rafael DeSoto, Rudolph Belarski, or Earle K. Bergey, who in the 1950s joined the ranks of Popular Library illustrators. It could be the work of A. Leslie Ross, who painted many a western paperback for Popular Library in a similar style. Anyone with information is encouraged to comment!
