Can you tell me a bit more about your portal master ocs? 👀
Olive Hitchman, The Soul Seeker;
Relationship status: Married to Jackson Forester
Ethnicity: Irish(mother) and Scandinavian(father)
Olive is Ghost Roaster and Grim Creeper's adoptive daughter. Ghost was given to her on her fifth birthday as a punishment by her bio parents because he was "a scary male toy" and they didn't want to explain to people why they weren't giving her anything for her birthday. She ended up loving him immediately though, and brought him everywhere with her.
Her bio parents died in a car crash a few months afterward(which I swear I came up with before I asked about Casper's backstory), and she ended up in a pretty shitty orphanage, where she was emotionally neglected by the staff and abused by the other children. Despite that, she managed to collect several of the missing skylanders(AKA the original 32)and a portal of power, since she found Hex being sold at a carnival and thought that they were a set.
When she was eight, one of the workers threw out the skylanders because she thought Olive "had too many toys". So she took the(thankfully clean) trash bag they'd been put in and ran away, the workers chasing her because they didn't want to be arrested for child abuse. This is when she first activated the portal of power and brought the skylanders back to Skylands.
A polysexual demigirl and goes by she/they pronouns. Didn't realize till after Swap Force tho(she was eight when she came to Skylands, she wasn't thinking about her love life, they thought love was cringe)
Their birth name is Mollie Stewart. Never call her that, it's their dead name.
I probably should have said this in the original post, but Jack isn't actually a Portal Master...But his wife(Olive) is- He's just a Life skylander from earth.
Olive is an Undead Portal Master who can sense the Soul present in every sentient being and track them.
Since she was the only one who wouldn't turn into a toy on earth, she was the one in tasked with searching for the remaining skylanders stuck there.
Mostly does recon missions and trains rescue teams.
Despite not being even remotely related to him, Olive looks a lot like Grim's human form(minus the color of her eyes). Grim says it's a sign that they were fated to be family from the very beginning.
Olive used to have bright red hair and deep brown eyes, but those faded away as she grew older, completely disappearing by the time Trap Team happened. Contrary to popular belief, this actually wasn't a result of her Undead element, but a genetic trait passed down through her biological father's side of the family.
Olive and Jack have a four year old daughter named Lydia Hitchman-Forester, who grows up to be a strong Magic Portal Master.
Cordelia Collier, The Wiremage;
Relationship status: Single
Ethnicity: American caucasian
Cordelia was born the youngest child of two very rich CEO's, and since her older siblings would both take over the two companies, Cordelia was able to enjoy a life of wealth and comfort without much pressure. That is, until Olive(who still went by Mollie at the time) walked into her life.
The two of them met in school, and quickly became friends after Olive saved Cordelia from bullies. Cordelia brought Olive to her house for a playdate, and showed her a shelf of toys. Some of them were skylanders(Jet-Vac, Pop Fizz, Chill, Hot Dog, Tree Rex, and Bouncer). Olive then suggested that they play a 'game' with her portal of power, and sent Jet-Vac and Hot Dog home. Cordelia, confused, angry, and only nine years old, lashed out, and Olive, unsure how to verbally explain and also a child...Put Cordelia's hand on the portal and sent her to Skylands as well. Then she put the other skylanders on the portal and went in herself.
It took... Awhile, for Cordelia to adjust to Skylands. Especially since the events of Giants started at the same time as her arrival. But, she managed, and now see's Skylands as a second home.
Bisexual and had a crush on Olive during the events of Swap Force, which wasn't returned since Olive isn't attracted to girls. She was over it by Trap Team, and glad that they were able to stay friends after she confessed.
Cordelia is a dual-element wielder, having power over both the Magic and Tech elements. Her powers manifest as incorporeal purple and bronze wires that extend from her body and shoot out the magic she uses to cast spells.
She helped Olive search for the missing skylanders by giving her the money to buy them.
She helps around the academy by maintaining the portal system and training Sorcerer students.
Amari Dlamini, The Sun Warrior;
Relationship status: Dating Torch(look Susan, if Night can ship the skylanders with oc's, then so can I)
Ethnicity: African(father) and American(mother)
Amari grew up surrounded by American culture, and struggled to connect with her father's African heritage. Despite that, her father accepted her for who she was, and while he did his best to teach his children his culture, he allowed them to decide to decide how much they would lean into it, which Amari was grateful for.
Has been taking several different fighting classes since she was seven, which helped her out a lot when she accidentally stumbled into Skylands at age fourteen after Knight Light, Spotlight, and a traptanium portal crash landed in her backyard. Her parents named her strength, so Amari was going to possess the greatest strength she could goddamnit.
Is thinking of moving to Skylands, both in order to be with Torch and to ensure that there are more Portal Masters in the future.
Amari is Bilingual, she might not have the best connection with her African heritage but she fucking refused to grow up unable to speak the same language as her father.
Disaster Simp Butch lesbian who often fails both of her languages when her girlfriend is around.
Amari's powers involve her punching and kicking people with sunlight and sprouting golden bird wings from her back in order to fly around for a limited time after she defeats a certain amount of enemies. Basically, she's a Sun-themed Valkyrie who fights with (golden)bronze knuckles.
Amari protects people from skirmishes/raids and trains Brawler skylanders at the academy.
Amari and Oba are identical twins with different skin tones. Yes, Susan, this is possible in real life.
Despite they're major differences in personality, Amari is extremely protective of her brother, Oba, and defends him from anyone who attacks him for exploring they're father's culture or thinks that he's evil simply because of his Dark element.
Amari and Oba have been best friends with Jack Forester since they were preteen's.
Oba Dlamini, The Lunar Medic;
Relationship status: Single
Ethnicity: African(father) and American(mother)
Oba grew up surrounded by American culture, but desperately wanted to connect with his African heritage as much as possible. His peers would often tell him that he didn't have to, since he didn't look African, but Oba argued that that made learning about his father's culture even more important, since he didn't have any visual connection to it. This, along with his more introverted nature, often led to him being bullied by racist people, who his sister Amari felt she had to protect him from.
Had a literal Panic Attack when Amari disappeared right in front of his eyes, leaving nothing but Knight Mare and Blackout's figures. Oba didn't know what to do for weeks afterwards, until Olive and Cordelia noticed that something was wrong and offered to help him. He basically burst into tears when they didn't dismiss his story as false, and was shocked when they brought him to Skylands to look for her.
Oba's powers revolve around healing, utilizing moonlight and shadows to mend any wounds that the Skylanders get in battle. This is met with a lot of controversy from the citizens of Skylands, since Oba uses the power of Darkness to treat people.
Since he's a Dark elemental, Oba isn't the most popular of Portal Masters, but he got used to it on earth, so Oba doesn't mind very much.
Transmasc pansexual man. He used to have a crush on Cordelia but that didn't last long.
Oba work's in the medical center, helping Whirlwind and Drobot deal with the many many idiots skylanders that frequently end up there.
Oba and Amari are identical twins with different skin tones. Yes, Susan, this is possible in real life.
Amari and Oba have been best friends with Jack Forester since they were preteen's.
Age: 40(but isn't going to age very much from now on)
Relationship status: Single
Fur: Dark indigo with grey streaks on their ears
Species: Seadog/Sea elf hybrid
Ethnicity: British and Spanish
Oh hey, the first none human on this list! Morgan was born on a pirate ship in a world called Sealands, the sole heir of the Captain and the crew's future leader. Their family led a life of Robin Hood esque shenanigans, traveling from port to port, fighting back against oppression where they found it, and helping anyone they could. Morgan's ability to create portals was discovered when his father found a portal of power and six year old Morgan started messing around with it. The crew ended up in Skylands, unsure of how they got there or how to leave...Until a lovely voice started singing a haunting song, and everyone's bodies began to move of their own accord, and they brought a beautiful looking mermaid named Melody Fairwave(yes, Gill's girlfriend) onto they're ship, and she made the crew take her back to her mistress, Kaossandra. After that, everything was a blur of pain, loss, killing, and never being able to tell whether they're actions were they're own or somebody else's.
The crew tried to rebel, but they were swiftly silenced, and the leaders of this rebellion, Morgan's parents, were forced to murder they're friends and family, and then themselves, in front of the few remaining people deemed too valuable to kill off. Including a seventeen year old Morgan.
Eventually, Gill Grunt reunited with Melody, but something was off. She was too peaceful, too healthy, too free, to have been a prisoner for 34 years. That's when Gill and Wash Buckler found Morgan. Gill Was FURIOUS. He arrested Melody, saved Morgan and his crew, and gave them shelter at the academy. He feels extremely guilty for what his ex did to Morgan and his family, and is trying his best to make up for it despite Morgan reassuring him that it wasn't his fault.
Morgan watched a lot of people look past Melody's abuse for no reason, and couldn't stop crying when they realized that they and their family were actually being rescued.
Morgan's parents, the Captain and his Quartermaster, were both men and in matelotage, with Morgan having been born from a sea witch's brew.
Morgan is a transmasc demiboy who goes by they/he pronouns. They figured out what gender they were when they were five, but never had time to explore their sexuality because kissing was cringe.
Imma be real here Fury I created Morgan literally this morning(and that's being generous), I don't have a lot about them or their powers figured out yet. That said, I have the excuse to bullshit a really good in-universe explanation for it; since Morgan has been a prisoner for most of his life, he was never able to explore who he is or figure out what they want in life. Right now, their focused on healing and reconnecting with the remaining members of their crew, but having other people around who won't hurt them for once is nice.
