Do you know where you can get unlimited servings of tender beef and chicken kebabs? The Hungry Kat was invited last week to take a look at this very interesting promotion so now I can show all my readers what is in store for them. All hungry tummies should take note because this is probably one of the most affordable and value for money deals you can avail in the metro, and you can find it just along the neighborhood in Quezon City.
Jack’s Joint has just opened its second branch at the busy Panay Avenue in Quezon City, and as a welcome treat to all its guests, they are offering an Eat All You Can Kebab promotion for only P249 per person from. Jack’s Joint opened its first branch in Manila last year and quickly made a name for serving authentic and affordable Turkish cuisine like kebabs, shawarma and other Western comfort food like burgers and pizza. It’s Quezon City branch opened just last January and now they are giving us more reasons to visit with their UNLIBABS promo.
From April 15 to May 14, 2016, Jack’s Joint Quezon City is offering its Unlibabs Eat All You Can Kebab promotion for only P249+ for lunch and P279+ for dinner. This comes with a serving of buttered rice as well as a glass of Iced Tea for the dinner service.
I was really curious to try this for myself so I visited Jack’s Joint last Thursday, just a day after I came back from my trip to Boracay. It’s quite easy to find the restaurant because it’s right in front of the M Place South Triangle condominium and just a few steps away from National Bookstore in Quezon Avenue.
The branch is not really that big and can accommodate around 40-50 diners. It has a simple and relaxed vibe, with big photos of its dishes hanging on the walls. The main customers of Jack’s Joint are mostly young adults and employees from the nearby companies and establishments in the area so expect a casual dining atmosphere.
Mr. Thomas Ang, one of the owners of Jack’s Joint Quezon City, enlightened me about the history of the restaurant. One of the co-owners of Jack’s Joint is Jackson Chua from whom the restaurant got it’s name. Thomas used to frequent the Manila branch but wanted a place much closer to home so they decided to open up a branch in Quezon City.
I started with a few of their fruit shakes like the Strawberry Shake (P95-Big) and Mango Shake (P95-Big). Jack’s Joint serves a unique kind of shake because these have a yogurt base and it results in a more refreshing flavor that is also healthier. Before I try their Unlibabs promo, let’s first take a look at their other offerings.
Jack’s Joint is proud of its authentic Mediterranean cuisine courtesy of Turkish Master Chef Ibrahim who is actually married to a Filipina. One of their specialties is their Shawarma which is far different from the ones that you encounter at those stalls inside the malls or on the streets. Their Shawarma is very lean and packed with meat and less of the fats.
I had their Beef Shawarma Wrap (P145-100g) and it is really quite different from the others I have tried before. The cuts of beef are thick and smoky which packs quite a heavy punch. You can add garlic sauce or a spicier version to your Shawarma to suit your palate.
Moussaka is also one of the more popular Mediterranean dishes so Jack’s Joint also serves the Beef Moussaka (P240). This eggplant dish is baked with lots of cheese and ground beef which results in a great appetizer or side dish before your main event.
I also wanted to try something I had not eaten before so I ordered the exotic Ox Brain (P100). I thought that it was just a name for some other type of dish until I found out that it really IS ox brain! It actually has a similar taste to our balut smothered in garlic sauce but this is probably an acquired taste that I have not acquired yet. Try it for yourself and see if you enjoy it.
Jack’s Joint also serves some more familair Western items like the Quarter Pounder with cheese and fries (P140). If you are just looking for a quick simple bite then this burger should do the trick.
They also serve a couple of interesting pizzas like the classic Margarita Pizza (P280) served with lots of tomatoes and cheese. Or try the more creative Shawarma Pizza (P360) which is loaded with cuts of beef shawarma on top.
But I came here to try their kebabs so it’s finally time I ordered this. You can get their Beef and Chicken Kebab (P195) which comes with one serving each of their beef kebab and chicken kebab plus a cup of buttered rice.
But if you are really hungry, go for the Unlibabs promo where you can eat all the beef and chicken kebabs that you want. The server will initially give you one plate of beef and chicken kebab with rice then you can order more servings once you finish. The kebabs are grilled only upon your order so these are served fresh and hot.
You can choose to make your rice bottomless as well by adding P50 or even turn your iced tea to unlimited by adding another P50. No sharing and no leftovers please.
I am not really an expert on kebabs so I cannot compare them with other kebab restaurants, but these kebas are indeed juicy and freshly grilled. I like the beef kebabs more than the chicken but that’s probably because of my beefy preference. This is really a great deal because you only need to refill your plate once and you will already get your money’s worth. Thomas said that the current record for most number of kebabs ordered is 11, so that is probably hard to break.
If you don’t really have that big of an appetire, then just get any of their other rice meals like the Shawarma Rice (P155) with a plateful of beef shawarma slices together with a cup of rice.
One of my recommended dishes is their Chicken Pirzola (P155) which is a chargrilled boneless chicken that is so tender and flavorful. This chicken barbecue is so good and you will forget about your other barbecue favorites when you try this.
Lastly, if you love lamb then you will definitely enjoy their Lamb Chops (P385) which has big pieces of lamb grilled to perfection. Their lamb dishes are all Halal-certified.
Everything at Jack’s Joint is friendly on the budget so you won’t go overboard. They even have a Happy Hour promo on their beers and beverages. So whether you go for their Unlibabs challenge or try their other Mediterranean or Western dishes, Jack’s Joint is one place you should visit in Quezon City.
