“You save people, do you not?”

““Well..yeah-”

“Then, you are a hero.” 

“Henrik, the same thing could be said about you! You save people on a daily basis.”

“Ja, zhat may be true, but people like me make sure people like you are well enough to go out and change the world.”

“...Thank you, Henrik.”

I think Jackie x Henrik is called Jackiestein, but I may be wrong

One afternoon, Henrik sat alone in his room hunched over a pile of paperwork, when there was a knocked at his door.

 “Come in!” he called, turning around in his chair.

 In walked the one and only, Jackie, clutching his arm and looking sheepish.   

 “Evening Jackie. Can I help you?” the doctor asked.

 “Um… well,” Jackie stumbled. “I hope I’m not bothering you.”

 “I wouldn’t have offered you my help if you were bothering me,” Henrik said, feeling as though he’d had this conversation a million times.

 Jackie shut the door and sat down on the doctor’s bed. He moved his hand to reveal a nasty looking scratch, that went all the way down his arm.

 “Hmm…” Henrik moved to get a closer look. “That is bad.”

 “Nothing too difficult, right?” Jackie asked, sounding nervous.

 “I’ll need you to take off your jumper,” he said. Jackie complied, slowly unzipping the zipper, realizing the he didn’t wear a shirt underneath. Henrik hoped his blush wasn’t too noticeable.

 The doctor rolled his chair over a drawer and pulled out a first aid kit. He pulled out some antiseptic and applied it to the scratch.

 Jackie hissed slightly, so Henrik tried to make quick work. Once the scratch was clean, he pulled out some banged’s and wrapped Jackie’s arm up.

 “Well, that should do it,” Henrik said.

 “Thank you!” Jackie cheered. Before even thinking, Jackie pressed a kiss to the doctor’s cheek.

 “Um… You’re welcome,” Henrik said, his face red looking dazed.

 “I should go now. More crime to fight.” Jackie fixed his jumper and ran out.

Because I was bored and needed to practice anatomy, I drew kinda a cover of a Jse fanfic I'm writing.

The poor doctor has no idea what's in store for him.

A sigh falls from Henrik’s chapped lips, a sorrowful expression on his face. He hated seeing his friend suffer, hated seeing the guilt overtaking the brightness and optimism. But he hated himself the most for not being able to offer the reassurance the hero so desperately needed.

“Jackie… None of this is your fault…”

“Yes, it was.” The hero persists, fingers locked together and held tightly against his mouth. A way to stop himself from reaching out and touching the doctor. They both knew what that would do if they were reckless. “If I had been home… If I was stronger, you wouldn’t have…”

The words died down. And they’re left in silence once more.

Henrik shakes his head, careful not to make himself dizzy. If he became dizzy then he’d feel like he was back with Him… and if he fell down that rabbit hole, then… who knows how long it would take him to come back out…. “You were not the one to hold a weapon against me…”

Jackie scoffs with bitterness, “I might as well have…”

“Jackie…”

“Stop trying to make me feel better.” He ends up snapping, not caring for the tears sliding down his face. “For once, let me take accountability for my mistakes. I wasn’t there when it mattered the most!”

“But you are here now.” Henrik shoots back, gripping the blanket with the little strength he can muster. Hands shaking, just as his breath. “You ground me when I cannot tell what is real and what is not. You are there when… When I cannot sleep or wake up…. You are here now, Jackie… I would have— I would have been dead long ago. I need you to understand that, yes?”

“Doc, I’m fine. I swear I butt dialed you.”

“You… You used your butt to call me…? This is even more reasons for me to come over and help you.” Henrik sounds alarmed from the other end of the line. Jackie heard shuffling and Henrik talking to someone else. Something along the lines of leaving early and working longer some other day.

“Doc, doc, listen! I don’t need you to come, okay? I don’t need you.” Jackie snapped, ending the call before Henrik could respond back. The hero breathes in deeply, his hand ruffling his own messy brown hair before falling back on the couch. He tossed the phone towards the other end before picking up the already open med-kit. Trembling hands pick a thread and needle, the hero disinfects it before he brings it to the gash on his arm.

A shaky exhale slips from his lips, and he has to bite his tongue to avoid a short yell coming out once the needle pierced his skin. Jackie always hated doing this part, it made his stomach twist and turn, but this is what he had to do. At least that way he didn’t have to worry anyone. ‘Maybe if you let Henrik come then it would’ve been a bit more bearable.’ His inner self retorts, of course that would’ve been the smart way, but Jackie wasn’t the type to make smart choices when it came to himself.

Once he was done, he had the urge to lay down. Exhaustion had finally caught up to him, or maybe it was the fact that blood was seeping through the bandages he had sloppily wrapped around his torso. His vision became blurry, and at that point he had already fallen on his side. Indigo eyes slowly flutter to a close. Maybe a nap will help with the dizziness, right?

The sound of the door opening and closing had the hero lift his indigo eyes from the comic he was reading. Jackie quickly tossed it aside, happy to see the doctor home.

“Hey doc! Little late to be coming home, huh? Rough shift?” Jackie asked though to his surprise Henrik didn’t get startled nor answer any of his questions. Well, he was expecting any reaction since he kinda sneaked into his home office without announcing anyone.

He had his reasons to…

A soft frown takes over his features, and soon he’s walking towards Henrik. “You doing alright?”

“Yes, yes, I am doing fine.” Henrik replied without a thought but Jackie could tell he wasn’t. After spending much time getting treated by the soon to be doctor he could tell something was definitely off. Even more so when Henrik hadn’t even direct his face towards him. Jackie stands from the black leather couch and walks towards Henrik. The closer he got the more he noticed how the doctor was in rough shape. His clothing was dirty, his long hair disheveled. Was he mugged on his way home?!

“Hen—“ Jackie whispered as he finally took a better glance at the doctor. Shock was evident in his eyes when he saw the bruises on his face. The lenses of his glasses were cracked but his vision was glued on his swelling, black eye. The hero takes a gentle yet firm grip on the doctor’s shoulders. “Who did this to you?”

Henrik exhales sharply to then pull away from Jackie. The floor creaks underneath his quick steps as he walks away from Jackie. “N-No. It was nothing, yes? M-My fellow doctors enjoy the messing around. It is meant to be fun—“ A weak chuckle slips from Henrik while his voice trails down.

“Your coworkers did this…?” Jackie asked quietly, his hands balling into fist. “Give me their names, now.”

Fear struck Henrik’s eyes at Jackie’s words and he started shaking his head. “I cannot do that, I-I will lose my job— I need this, m-my family…”

“Let me see… It’s alright, I’m just gonna take a look.” Jackie whispered, keeping his hands visible on each side of him. “Is it okay if I take a look, or do you want to show me?“

Henrik breathes out shakily, trembling hands still holding on to his leg. Brown locks cover the doctor’s expression, but Jackie didn’t need to see Henrik’s face to know how much pain he was. A moment or two go by before Henrik shakes his head, his hands searching for the wall as he attempts to stand.

“I am fine. I only lost my balance.” He managed in a grunt though his response only makes Jackie breathe out in defeat. Nonetheless, the hero stands and offers a helping hand to his friend, yet is left hanging. “Here, I’ll help you to your office.”

“I do not need your help. I can go on my own.”

“Hen, don’t keep shutting me out like that.” Jackie pleaded with sadness in his indigo eyes. He hated this, hated feeling so… useless. All he wanted was lessen the pain hunting his best friend, it hurt Jackie… “All I want is to help you just like you helped me ever since we became friends. You don’t have to pretend to be strong all the time.”

Those words cause Henrik to stop walking down the hall, his head lowering while his frame began to tremble. His back facing Jackie. The distance created between them comes to a close when Jackie takes hopeful steps towards Henrik, his instincts screamed to just hold his friend but he knew better than to do that without permission. He heard Henrik exhale shakily before a scarred hand moves in search for Jackie. At the movement, Jackie doesn’t think twice in offering his arm for support and he can’t help but to breathe out in relief. This is good, this is progress.

“My… My leg feels like its being set on fire… f-from the inside.” Henrik managed in a whisper but it was clearer in the hero’s ears. “It h-hurts—“

“Henrik! Snap out of it!” The hero yelled as he dodge the sharp scalpels thrown at him, one of them flying dangerously close to his eye. His heart was racing a million miles, fear and despair in his voice and indigo irises. His stomach churns when he takes notice of the bright, red thread wrapped tightly around his friend’s wrists and throat. Those icy blue eyes that held contentment, and hope now hazy and full of static.

“Come, come, mein freund, it is time for surgery.” Henrik’s words sent a chill down his spine, almsot making Jackie to lose his breath. “Master wants a brand new puppet— I am an obedient puppet. I-I must listen—“

“No, no! Henrik, please. I don’t wanna hurt you!” Jackie yelled pleadingly as he grabbed the Doctor’s wrists, squeezing them until he heard a yelp and the clanging of the scalpels falling to the ground. “Remember! You are stronger than this!”

“Ah, such an easy one this one.” The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as the glitch laced voice reached his ears. Soon enough, Anti revealed himself just behind the doctor, his fist gripping Henrik’s strings in a possessive manner. A wide grin spreads on his face, one that made the hero sick to the stomach. “All I have to say is a few code words— and he’s mine all over again.”
