lettie is genuinely one of the most interesting and well written characters in the entire warframe universe. like the way she embodies everything that makes trinity such an interesting and different take on the typical healer/support role.
she's a religious sadomasochistic realist (bordering on being pessimistic sometimes) who has dealt with chronic depression for most of her life, keeps everyone and arms length and appears to generally not like people.
but she's a medic. and even while being overworked and exhausted, as she struggles to find meaning in constantly patching up civilians over and over again, since they will just be brought back to life when the loop resets, she keeps doing it.
and her relationship to death, how she almost views it as a mercy, yet knows her job is to keep death at bay for as long as she can?
Belladona ~{@: "I respect her[death]. Even if sometimes I don't want to like her. But she shepherds the ones I care for." Drifter: "But you're a medic. Don't you heal people? How can you "respect" death?" Belladona ~{@: "You're thinking about it all wrong. All those times you died. Do you blame her for ending your pain? Was it her fault you suffered or was it the ones who hurt you to blame. But when she does come. I make sure she knows she is welcome. She takes away pain, babas. She is not to be feared, but respected."
her love for animals, how she keeps rats and how much she loves and cares for them, despite their short lifespan. and she keeps doing it over and over again, having kept rats for most of her life.
she hates empty promises, and she will straight up break up with drifter, if they try to reassure her with empty words. she doesn't ask if they will ever leave, she asks who to blame when they do. she appreciates drifter admitting that yes, they will most likely have to leave to end this war, but they promise they will do everything they can to come back. all she wants is for drifter to prove that she can trust them, that she can actually rely on them.
she does so much to keep people away, to not let anyone in and make it seem like she doesn't care. but she does care, she cares so much. she cares about her patients, her rats, the people around her. she's just been hurt and let down too many times, so she keeps her walls so so high in order to protect herself.
and i think in some ways she's the only one who truly understands drifters complicated relationship to duviri
like already in this rank1 convo?
Belladona ~{@: "Oh yeah. And what was that "hell"[Duviri] like. Did it burn?" Drifter: "No, that's one thing they didn't do to me, thankfully." Belladona ~{@: "They?" Drifter: "They. Me. It's all the same. It's a long story." Belladona ~{@: "In a way, I think I understand. Circumstances are different. But the pain's the same. Maybe we have more in common than I gave you credit for, babas."
and then this rank5 one?
Drifter: "Loneliness is a sadness that comes and goes in waves. Or like seasons. So it's an easier pain to ignore. And I think that when loneliness really gets into you, it doesn't ever let you go, even when you're no longer alone. I feel it still, even when I'm sitting around the table with the Hex, laughing and drinking. I'm happy. I'm with everyone. But it's there. Like someone removed a kidney or a rib from me once, a long time ago. A hollowness that aches a little on rainy days."
Belladona ~{@: "Sí, mi corazón, you understand. Sometimes I can enjoy it almost. Like a beautiful sadness. Sometimes you bleed enough and then the bleeding stops"
just everything about her makes me
