Jack Thyme, How It Happened
▪a town upbringing as an only child with both parents; altogether a stable, ordinary childhood
▪but when your mom doesn't come home one day, you start to wish for things to be different
▪some call it "adolescence", others call it "rebel phase"; trouble after trouble, until one day a dagger finds its way to Jack's neck
▪hiding the wound out of embarrassment leaves it to fester, too late medical care leaves behind a gnarly scar
▪years later, when his father's been dead for a while, it wakes the desire to help others, leading Jack to becoming a nurse and tending to the wounded and the sick
▪all the while hiding the nasty scar, because who'd want their caretaker to look effed up?
▪the need for medical personal dwindles and Jack is to search for a new job
▪one night at the pub sets lose a chain of events, and at its end he's working for a woman that knows just what her customers want
▪it's a job that's frowned upon, but it lets Jack explore his own sexuality and gets him into contact with many different, interesting people, people longing for a warm night with an impeccable man
▪and who's to blame when he falls for one of them?
▪he's a pirate, and he promises the world and more to Jack if only he were to leave with him
▪the talk of freedom is mesmerising, and so it happens a few days later, at night, no goodbyes or tears left behind
▪it's a new beginning, away from bad memories and social stigma
▪aboard the ship, it takes a while, but a few scars and half a finger later, Jack is blooming, thriving in a world that takes him as he is
▪as the ship's cook and with his medical background, he gets to still take care of other people, while also living life at the limit
▪it's more than his teenage self could ever have dreamed of
