☀️ What makes your OC genuinely happy? A person, an item, their hobby? Where is the place they’re happiest, or most at home? What is the happiest they’ve ever been?
Jack Euler (Fo4) is a very happy person most of the time, simply naïve other times, but even he can be taken down by the grief of losing everyone when he was forced into this new world, 200 years from everything he was once familiar with. He tangibly lost his wife whom he loved more than anyone, and he mentally lost all six of his siblings in one blow, without any hint of closure as to what became of them or how they did or did not adapt to the wasteland.
When he is most genuinely happy is when he can take the time to write letters to them and to Vivia in his journal, which he always keeps with him. When the pain of loss just brings him down far too much, or if the excitement of everything new he gets to experience just needs to be shared with those he loved, he can find comfort and joy in letting them know all about it through his writing.
Open ended letters will never be a replacement for the memory of the connections he once had. But it’s still a source of great happiness when one is hard to find.
As far as where he is happiest/where he feels at home, that would be his junkyard. When he isn’t working on missions for the Railroad or battling any number of large irradiated things trying to kill him, he hangs out at Hub City Auto Wreckers.
He was familiar with the place pre-war, as he often had made runs there for parts or scrap when he worked as a mechanic, and now it is something of a comfort to him. He has built up the wrecked buildings and cleaned it up from its... previous inhabitants, and has it quite nicely set up as his own home. His next goal is to get one of the rusty shitbucket cars to run again, but... so far, no luck.
The happiest he has ever been was when Vivia bought back his ‘49 Corvega that he sold to buy their house. That car and him had lots of adventures together, and traveled through many hardships in one of the worst times in his (pre-war) life, so having it back was like having a part of him that he was missing returned. And it also just showed to him how ridiculously lucky he had been in getting a partner like her who cared that much about him.
🌙 If your OC could have one wish come true what would it be and why? Would there be consequences to this wish or would they regret it once they get what they want? What would they give in return for this wish to come true?
Dizzy Deeks (NV) would wish for more confidence. His anxiety can cause pretty awful panic attacks at the worst times, so he would be happy if he never had to experience that again for sure. I’m sure he would believe it would open the doors for him to do so many new things fearlessly, or to make so many new friends that he never had the guts to even speak to before, but really it would just make him less him. He would probably get into a lot more avoidable danger, go out on more risky adventures, and ultimately have less reservations about all those things that scare him to death now.
And while some parts of that probably sound nice, dying from confidently hurling himself into danger when he still is pretty weak is not the best idea. Also, it would most likely change the relationships he has with people he is very close to if he had the confidence to branch out from his comfort zone; he probably wouldn’t be as intimately close to those who really matter to him anymore, such as Duke or Lucky, because he wouldn’t have the same tendency to latch on to a select, limited few.
