Why I think Jane and Michael are endgame
After watching 5x02, I was hit by the realization that Cordueva/Villadero is meant to be. Some thoughts I have gathered:
1/ Pretty sure they're endgame because they're the couple who got the most shit and it's a well-known fact that in telenovelas shit goes to the endgame couple
2/ Jane and Michael are the only ones who got a "flash-forward" showing their future life (including children). It could have been to mislead us of course, but it could have also been a hint. And the writers said the show is full of them.
3/ Season 5 is clearly a call back to the first season (cf: Jane barging in for a love confession at Raf’s workplace). Season 1 started with Villadero seemingly happy but then she chose Raf. And now the tables are turned...
4/ The writers genuinely love Michael and I don't think they would bring him back only to make Jane choose Raf over him. It would be insanely cheap and pointless after so many years.
5/ There was a hint in last night's episode — the narrator said something along the lines of 'but it never goes as planned, it's a telenovela' and it was over a shot of Jane and Jason.
6/ The kitten! It represents Jane and Michael's marriage and plans for the future and it’s no coincidence that it has appeared quite a lot this season (when it was almost entirely absent all of last season). And its name is Faith. Again, another hint!
7/ I think Michael's return feels disappointing .for a reason. It's as if the writers took all the positive aspects of it away to concentrate on the negative ones. I think it's for angst and slow burn purposes. It's their way of playing with the viewers' emotions and building up the final twist (starting with - to go to + and I would have been more worried if it was the other way around)

kings jackael au where Jack is the beloved King of a lovely and thriving kingdom and Michael part of the royal guard. Michael’s just risen through the ranks, reaching a high enough status to possibly become in charge of his own knights, but instead he gets assigned to the King’s personal guard, a decision made in part due to Michael’s anger and after a rather... colorful conversation with a higher ranking official (even though Michael was in the right with the whole thing).
Michael’s bitter about the new post and Jack’s unsure of this knight who he’s been warned of having a dirty mouth and a sour temper. But Jack’s nice to him anyway, greeting him with a kind smile. He’s known for being the kind king for a reason. And Michael wants to be sour and bitter, but the second Jack’s greeting him and smiling, he’s finally been at a lost for words for the first time ever in his life. Jack notes how cute the other was, but shoves those thoughts at the back of his head quickly.
They get along amazingly well, much better than anyone, even them, had expected. They’re constantly chatting and joking and Michael discovers there’s no greater thing in the world than telling a story that makes Jack laugh so hard he cries and Jack learns that there’s nothing purer than Michael’s bright, excited smile. And basically they slowly fall in love, the King and his Guard.
