I was out of town for my real birthday, so I came back to work to find my cube had been decorated like this in my absence, anticipating my arrival back. I think my coworkers had some fun while I was gone.

So we've had a few issues in the past with our front door and no matter how many times we try and sand it down and paint it (even hired professionals to do it once) the doors never looked great. The paint was splotchy and didn't look well done.
Well my dad decided enough was enough. He knew a guy he trusted to get the job done right, this guy was a painter after all... except primarily for bodywork on cars. So what does my dad do? He takes the front doors off of our house, loads them into the back of a trailer, and drives them to the auto body shop. Then he proceeds to screw plywood boards to the front house (an aesthetic we had to live with for almost an entire week).
In the end though, the whole ordeal seemed to be worth it. For the first time ever (or at least for the first time in a really long time) our doors look great! The finish is smooth, glossy, and evenly painted, and my dad says now he can be the only guy on the block who can stand outside and wax his front doors.

So, Thursday night was pretty scary. I got home to work to find Ty cooking dinner. We ate our food and then sat down in my computer room (a balcony converted into a room) where we were going to play some video games. Out of nowhere we hear this pop akin to a gunshot. It was unusual but we didn’t think much of it until we heard a second much louder explosion. I looked at my window to see the apartment building next to us was up in flames. I ran to get Zach, We all grabbed a few valuables, and then threw everything in the car and moved the cars farther away. Luckily the fire response was impressively fast and they were there in minutes evacuating the nearby building (us) and starting to control the fire from spreading. It took almost four hours for them to get the fire out, but they were able to keep it contained to just those few apartments. Amazingly, nobody was hurt, but we all feel for the families who lost their homes.
