I interviewed Edgar Medina. A content creator who has been in the business for 7 years. He’s worked along side many famous artists like Migos and long other prominent photographers like Marcus Hyde.
Here is a look into the work Alexandre Torres, a Guest Relations Specialist at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
“Dead Prom Queen” Halloween 2018
Model: my sister, Rachel
Sandra Hwee: President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)
Stephanie Pillado: What is the Amercian Institute of Chemical Engineers?
Sandra Hwee: Our chapter is an organization for chemical engineers to have a voice, do projects and participate in the events we have. We hold general body meeting (GMB) for companies to come and talk about talk about their jobs and we offer recruitment workshop. We also have workshops to help students with getting recruitment and we help people make connections with companies and continue with engineering.
SP: How did you get involved?
SHwee: I had to get involved to get an internship. I applied in the Fall of 2015 and got elected in 2016 as a historian. As a historian I needed to make a website for the program and made a Facebook page and managed both. I attended all the events and GBM’s and took all the photos and shared them online. Back in my freshman year before I joined I made the event coordinator email the AlChE to get them to talk to the freshman because I wanted to now more about the chapter. I joined after that and then fast forward to 2018, I’m still here. If it wasn’t for me reaching out they wouldn’t have done it themselves.
SP: What position are you in now?
SHwee:I am the president of AlChE now
SP: What made you stay?
SHwee: I stayed because it’s provides a good internship experience and being involved in school with is good on your resume. I also like helping people.
SP: How do you help?
SHwee: I make sure everything runs smoothly. We attract students to our program by holding events at Week of Welcome and having professors talk about our program before or after their lectures. I talk to the department chair about and organize for different companies in chemical engineering to come and present themselves to the students. It also gives students the opportunity to ask questions regarding the industry and make connections.
SP:
SHwee: Chevron, Torrance Refinery, Keck Graduate Institute, the list goes on.
SP: What are some pros?
SHwee: Getting my name out there has been one of the pros for sure. It’s kinda scary and kinda cool when people in your department especially professors and the chairman know you. It’s cool nonetheless.
SP: How does someone join?
SHwee: It’s not that hard. They just have to reach out to me. Anyone is accepted including non-chem majors. All majors are welcome. They could reach me at [email protected]

Kanye West Meets Uganda
Kanye West Meets Uganda
According to The Guardian , Kanye West stirred up controversy again this week when Bobi Wine attacked the rapper for meeting with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. West and his reality television star wife Kim Kardashian West are visiting the East African country to complete his ninth studio album Yandhi.
During their meeting at the State House Mr. West and the president exchanged gifts and discussed promoting tourism and arts in the country.
Bobi Wine, one of East Africa’s best-known musicians turned politician, criticized Kanye for his unethical use of his image “just to rub shoulders with the president,” as quoted in The Guardian.
Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi argued that the Museveni is a corrupt man who has been in power for over 32 years and limits the people's freedom of expression through arrests and torture. The politician himself has faced the repercussions for speaking out against the president, having been arrested and tortured in the past. Mr. Wine was flown out to the United States to seek treatment for his injuries before moving back. To this day, Wine is not allowed to showcase his music at arenas after being blacklisted.
The Guardian quotes Wine stating that “It would have been great if he had used his voice for the good of people in Africa...it is very disappointing.”
Every time Kanye West makes a headline it gets more and more disappointing to read. Mr. West is choosing the sides of the oppressors back in the United States and in Africa. It’s disheartening to see that a man with such a power influence across the new generations, abuse his power. He is quickly falling from his grace with every headline and every public meltdown. He wants to put himself up with other powerful leaders and it’s very much for his own personal gain. Like Bobi Wine said, it’s very disappointing to see.
Here is an interesting bathroom story shared by one of my classmates.
