My aesthetic is remembering I have free will and only get paid 17$ an hour and hanging up on the lady yelling at me because there's no administrator or social worker in on the weekend. After I said I could leave a message. She refused to talk to a nursing supervisor because she kept requesting someone who wasn't a nurse.
She called back and said she got disconnected. I said "we didn't, you're not allowed to yell at me". She yelled a little more and I was like "okay, it's Saturday, your only options are to google the state boards number, wait on hold to talk to a nursing supervisor because she's in a call, or talk to no one today" and she finally conceded to talk to nursing supervisor and the supervisor had to call me to figure out what she even said wanted through all the yelling and swearing and when I told her she goes "I don't know why she was bothering you over that, that's wild, somethings not right"
I personally think if my boss is always going to be ~10 minutes late with coffee she can at least get me some too the day after my mom has to go to the hospital but maybe im too woke

I spent probably the first half hour of my shift trying to figure out what one of my Spanish speaking residents needed. First, one of my other residents said she needed silverware but he's a different dialect of Spanish so he tried but. I gave her silverware. Then she finds my boss and my boss is telling the kitchen she needs silverware and I'm like "no, she just got some" so then I find one of my Spanish coworkers and I'm like "help". And he's didn't know how to fully translate it but was like "she said someone took her things for sewing or something like that I don't know it in English" and I know she knits so I'm thinking knitting needles because that also makes sense for the silverware confusion. So I show her my knitting needle stash and she's like "nooooo :(" and then I think yarn? But I thought she had a shit ton of yarn but she's made like 100 blankets so I pull up a picture of yarn on my phone and she's like "SΓ, LA LANA" and I tell my boss "hey _____ is saying someone stole her yarn" and she's like "okay but did she just use it all?" (Which, she does have mild dementia so ???) anyways. We didn't have any more yarn for her. But her family is rlly involved so hopefully my girl gets her la lana
But I felt so bad she was so frustrated trying to communicate I'm glad I finally figured it out even tho I didn't have a solution
Things I've made* my residents watch
1. Merv. This one was good, I wanted to watch it for Charlie Cox and my residents like hot men and dogs so it was a win. The only negative was that my boss walked in and said Charlie looked like her ex but I've seen her ex and idk why she had to insult Charlie ??
2. Daredevil**. I forgot how violent it was lowkey. One of them liked that he was Catholic. I think they made it half way through episode one then they left and I had to turn it off.
3. Captain America: The First Avenger. I didn't know what else to watch on July 4th. One of the older ones who lived through WWII was really into it actually and I didn't think she would've been.
4. A murder mystery hallmark movie surrounding a chocolatier**. It was chocolate day and my boss didn't buy Willy wonka like she said she would so. I first put on a cutesy one of like "omg I'm a small town girl and the chocolate competition is coming up" but they hated that shit
5. All the Halloween Town movies. They can't escape this series every October. It's kinda hit or miss. Some like it some don't, I think it leans a smidgen too young for them.
6. Sabrina The Teenage Witch. They honestly really liked this which surprised me!
7. Wanda Vision. I didn't put this one on, the kitchen staff did. One of my residents was like "this is funny :) they're getting married" and I was like haha. Hah. Yeah.
* by "make" I mean they usually get choices of what to put on, the only times I really 'make' them is when I have to work within a theme and usually then I can find something they dont hate. When they won't give me a choice or say they don't care just put on whatever and if they hate it I'll find something else.
** the max rating in the communal space is pg-13. The more adult ones that are kind of pushing it were only put on in situations where I've had only a few residents in who were cognitively aware and requested something more grown up on tv and I did it because that's a valid request under the condition that if more residents came in I'd have to change it
A residents wife is mad at me for not bringing her SLEEPING husband to a MEETING that he physically cannot take part in (nonverbal. Asleep).
