"I meant...how are you holding up" and "I think the worst is over now" for Rafael & Sonny plus death threats please?
Sonny hates not being able to go to work. He can’t do anything but sit in his apartment with a protective detail (that he doesn’t even need, he’s fine) consisting of two unis in their mid twenties. Rafael still goes to work, and the rest of the squad are splitting their time between their normal case load and investigating whoever’s been sending death threats to Sonny via cards on bouquets of flowers delivered to the precinct, pictures of himself with x’s on them dropped on his desk, and a close run in with a shooter while he was picking up lunch to bring back to the squad.
Speaking of lunch, Rafael stops by on his lunch break with takeout from Sonny’s favorite Italian place for both of them to share. He looks stressed, likely with the weight of the current case and the fact that he has to fight his way through the daily-changing team of unis each time he wants to come home.
“How’re you doing?” Rafael asks, handing Sonny his container.
“I’m bored and I feel useless doing nothing.”
The look Rafael gives him is nothing short of annoyed, but he sees the fondness hiding in it. “I meant, how are you holding up?”
“I think the worst is over now. No one’s tried to break in and shoot me again yet, so, that’s an improvement.” He stares down at the food he isn’t hungry for as Rafael studies him like a puzzle to figure out. “Is there any progress on who wants me dead yet?”
“Rollins is following up on a lead right now.”
Which means that hopefully, things will go back to normal soon. That’s all that Sonny can hope for.
