The hopeless gamble away their memories. Fools and losers dressed up to the nines, that's the casino. The casino's where you go to bet on your hopes and dreams. To lose your life on a game of chance. But you're not a fool. You've never been one, no matter how hard the hand you're dealt.
A lot of things were on the table tonight, and it was your night, you definitely knew it.
Patrons gather the table. Liquor and spirits fill the air of the casino and the gambling tables.
The Las Nevadas casino is a great place. Every gambler dreams of being in a place like this. The gambling tables, filled with the finest of the best. There was no other better place to spend a Saturday night but in Las Nevadas.
Your hands cradled a delicate crystal glass of bourbon as you waited for a certain dealer.
A man dressed in white long sleeves and suspenders walked into the crowded room. Quackity. The main event. The notorious dealer. The man behind this glorious city of sin.
He turned his head to smile at you. You could tell how he had spent a lot of time perfecting his pearly white grin.
âWelcome to Las Nevadas, my old friend.â His voice oozed with false warmth. A smile. You could see his face reflected in your glass. His teeth were a dazzling white. His face looked just as good as the prize you would come home with tonight.
âYou and I both know we were more than friends.â You took a sip of the whiskey. Its burn sent warmth down your throat. âBut that isnât the reason Iâm here, isnât it?â
He chuckled. You knew you were in for a long night.
âWhat are you thinking, Mr. Quackity?â You knew the answer.
âIâm thinking you must be a very good gambler.â He leaned over the table, you smell the musky cologne he wore. âWhy else would you be here? Did you get bored in kinoko kingdom?â
A small smile finds its way to your lips. You donât ignore the slight malice in his tone. âWhat can I say? I like red poker chips better than red mushrooms though Sapnap and Karl would beg to differâŚâ Your voice trailed.
Quackityâs welcoming demeanor melts like the ice in your drink. It seems you pushed a button. You finished your glass, then placed it on the table. âDelighted to see you didnât get rid of that sharp tongue you have Y/N.â
âSame to you, that scar on your face looking handsomely nasty as ever.â
You and Quackity had your rough patches. Friends. Lovers. Colleagues. Rivals. No one knew how to categorize both of you. You canât even put a name to it. You both enjoy getting under each otherâs skin. You both like to throw around insults and put others down.
âJust needed to get away from all that nature. Always thought of myself as a city kind of person, I'm not after that nature and flowers life.â
âSo you stumble in my casino,â he chuckles, his laugh sounded like he hadnât a care in the world. âWhat are you willing to bet tonight?â
You leaned back in your chair. âIâm willing to bet anything, my friend.â Your fingers playing on the edges of your now empty wine glass. âOn a simple game of poker.â
Quackityâs eyes sparkled in the light. âA gamble I canât refuse.â He chuckled again. âI assume we play like the old days. How many emeralds are you willing to bet?â
You hum, sizing him up. âIâm bored and I got nothing to lose. Letâs raise the bet in higher stakes. Iâm betting my life.âmy service specificallyâso if I lose I become one of your goons, how about that, Alex?â
Quackity hated the way his real name rolled off your pretty little mouth. How foreign yet familiar it felt. It reminded him of long late nights of cards in the president's office, jokers and queens against each other. A memory that was still fresh in his mind. You still sported that sadistic smile when you knew you'd win. He was ready to wipe it off.
âWho said I wanted to recruit you in Las Nevadas?â He grabbed a set of cards from the table and started to shuffle them. âAnd if in an unfortunate circumstance I lose, what do you gain Y/N?â
âThat.â You said simply, as you pointed on two gold bands that were resting right in front where his heart would be.
Quackity involuntary covered the necklace where the rings resided. You donât fail to notice that action as a slow sadistic smile dance on your lips. You knew what those rings meant, how much it meant to Quackity. They were the proof of his fleeting love and his enduring failures.
But in Quackityâs luck, those rings werenât something you wanted. He could keep those memorabilia until he reaches his grave.
âDonât worry Quackity, you can keep those engagement rings. I just want your heart. Literally and figuratively.â You could feel the tension growing between the both of you. You watched the cards in his hand, he was finished shuffling.
And so the game begins.
âElaborate on that Y/N,â he says as he starts dealing the cards. âWhy do you want my heart?â
âIâll get straight to the point, I want your life, you become my lackeyâmy servantâor whatever you call it. Youâd be serving me until your heart stops beating,â you say as you turn over the first hand. Ace of hearts.
âDeal.â
A smile creeps on your lips. âAll in.â You said to him. The excitement in your veins makes you giddy.
âOf course, letâs play this like the old days Y/N.â
As the dealer hands the cards down, the silence in the room felt eerie and thick. For the first time since your entrance in Las Nevadas, you were on equal ground. And it felt good. You wanted a challenge from the only man who could stand on the same level as you.
The room was filled with the sound of chips dropping onto the green felt of the table. Rounds of poker pass through like sand. The game was almost finished.
Everything was on the line for both you and Quackity.
The grasp you had on your cards tightened. Your eyes narrowed as you focus on the man at the end of the table. You're ready to take back what's rightfully yours.
Your eyes lock with Quackity's. He smiles at you. You stare back.
âNo good, Y/N? After all that talk?â He taunts. âIâll still pay you minimum wage if I decide to hire you.â
You shake your head, âYouâre going to get what you asked for, you'll be my lackey forever.â You let your cards fall on the table.
A royal flush.
He knew he was beaten, he started to count the remaining chips. You could feel his mind ticking like a watch.
You could feel your smile stretching across your face. You just couldnât help yourself. You laughed. Your gaze focuses on the pitiful man in front of you, his eyes wide. He starts to shake his head no.
âI win.â You said softly. âYour game has finally ended, Alex.â
He tentatively revealed his cards, just a pair of useless cards. Heâd lost. You won.
You leaned forward just enough to see him grit his teeth. âAnd after all those rumors that this casino was rigged to your benefit, funny how I still win.â
He doesnât respond, his eyes still screaming bloody murder.
You stand up from your seat, you take two steps towards him as you pull him by the chain oo his neck.âYou needn't worry,â Leaning down, you kiss his cheek smugly and whisper in his ear, âThis wonât be the last time youâll play with me.â
âGet out of my casino.â He says through gritted teeth. You can tell he wanted to take your head with his bare hands.
âAlright, alright.â You let go of his necklace. Before you turn on your heels and walked out of the casino, leaving him in the middle of a losing game.
Quackity puts a finger on his lips, he still tasted the whiskey from your lips. Fuck.
