Now, the ladies competition is interesting.

Under normal circumstances, Loena Hendrickx of Belgium would be the favorite here. However, she hasn’t competed since placing twelfth at the 2019 Worlds. She has the highest personal best here, and with coming back from injury (she had to withdraw from Nebelhorn), we have no idea where she is at. I think it is best for her, at this stage, to just concentrate on coming back and not worry about medals. She could definitely be a favorite here for the podium, but it is hard to say where she is at with her comeback right now.

With that being said, could Eva-Lotte Kiibus of Estonia make it two gold medals in a row? She has the highest personal best (aside from Hendrickx of course), and if she skates they way she did at Nebelhorn, she could win a second gold medal here. That would be great for her confidence going into the her Grand Prix debut at the Internationaux de France next month. She can’t afford mistakes, because it could end up being a very close competition.

Alexandra Feigin of Bulgaria is the only other skater besides Henrdrickx who can challenge Kiibus. She actually has a higher personal best (unofficially, as it was not an ISU competition), but based on how she started off last season, I don’t see her beating Kiibus here. Kiibus already has a competition under her belt, while Feigin does not. However, we don’t know how Kiibus will be coming off a win – it should be a confidence booster, but it could also make her more nervous, and neither one of them are consistent skaters. As I said, it could end up being very close between the two.

Now, we have our next group of skaters - I would say “middle of the pack” skaters, but that isn’t entirely accurate here, because they could also be in the medal hunt here if anyone of the top three ladies falters, one of these girls could sneak - Dasa Grm of Slovenia, and Ivett Toth and Julia Lang of Hungary.

Lang has the lowest personal best of the three, but none of these ladies are very consistent, so this could go either way. I expect the battle for silver and bronze to be very close/. At 29, though, Dasa Grm is the oldest skater here, and you know she would love to take home a bronze medal here. Of course, this does largely depend on what Hendrickx is capable, but if she slips too much, one of these girls could be going home with a medal.

Our third Hungarian lady is Regina Schermann and she should be easily seventh here. I don’t see her breaking into the top six, but she shouldn’t be lower than that, either.
