( ★ BRI AND JUNIE )── there was something so special about celebrating someone’s existence: the simple act of saying i’m so glad you’re here always filled junie’s heart to the brim. with extra fondess. She felt terrible for missing the actual celebration (even though the pre birthday sleepover was fun, thought it wasn’t enough) but if there was any way to make up for it, it was by dedicating a whole day to whimsy activities.
lotte world felt perfect for the occasion. something about it always reminded her of a different timeline, a place translating between childhood and now, where everything was soft, nostalgic, and a little bit healing. a place where laughter echoed off lights, and they could take the silliest photobooth pictures without a care in the world.
the drive wasn’t too far, which worked in her favor. junie made sure to leave early so they could squeeze every drop of fun out of the day. by the time she arrived to the linked location attached to their conversation, the morning light was golden and the weather was perfect. she sent a quick text, grinning at her own message as she hit send:

she’d woken up a little earlier than usual to prepare some light snacks just in case the other hadn’t eaten yet. on the passenger seat awaited a small container decorated with birthday themed stickers and filled with assorted pastries for her to pick from, and in the cup holder, junie’s very own special matcha (made with extra care this time).
