In the midst of a life overhaul and the last of my queue just posted. Timely.

Walked into a bank today for the first time in something like six months. Two of the teller stations were replaced by what looked like ATM machines. There was only one teller working and one girl in front of me, so I waited. I sure as hell couldn't ask the machine why it was inside and not out. Well, the nice girl behind the thick plate of plexiglass reported they have a higher withdrawal limit and accept all denominations of bills. And that's it. No more people, just machines. And expedited service of course. Always for the customer and never to save money. This bothered me and when I realized it bothered me, I felt strangely old. Like some crotchety old man who scoffed at technology. When asked if I needed anything else, I said the grocery stores near my house installed new credit card swiper ma-jigs and my card no longer worked on them. So, I asked how to go about getting a new card. She said she could do it right then and there. Yup, right away. No calling some 800 number and waiting two weeks for a card with a different card number. Same card number right away in my suddenly old man hands. This literally made me go pffffft, shake my head, and ask her if she meant to say right away. She laughed. I looked down and a walker materialized in my hands. I got my new card and hobbled away from that dang-nabbit technology vortex of a bank. GET OFF MY LAWN CHASE.
