My views on how social media impacts our lives
Social Media platforms have increased to a great number in the past few years and so have the social media users.
Social media not only affects our lives or mind but also our day to day activities. It makes us want to become socially acceptable and behave in a manner which everyone accepts socially or virtually.
I have been a social media victim too and i know how much damage it can cause to one’s life.
It is a great platform to spread one’s ideas and culture or interact with other sorts of people but it is also one of the most deadliest platforms when it comes to one’s degrading mental health.
Various psychological disorders such as anorexia, bulimia or depression occur if we are not accepted socially or if our “looks” or “personality” do not satisfy the social needs.
A great depiction of such an addiction is shown through the song “Noir by Sunmi”.
We become so engrossed in trying to fulfill the social needs or social desires the we forget who we are and what our true identity is.
It might lead to an “identity crisis” in which a person cannot find their true identity or have trouble forming it because of the social needs.
Social media is a great platform to spread new ideas or interact with other cultures or get to know people with similar interests , but trying to combine your life with the virtual world can lead to a bunch of problems which affects your future life and well being.
