Itsekiri king, Nigeria, Ogiame Atuwatse III
A descendant of Nana & Mum . After Nana returned from exile he settled in Koko. In order to reduce the chances of the British capturing and sending him into exile again, he built a secret passageway that led to the side of his premises where he also had a small canal made. The canal led to the Ethiope river (or the Benin river, I’m not sure now) and could take a small canoe. Basically an escape plan in case the British tried to kidnap him again. . #Koko #Nana #Itsekiri #NanaOfItsekiri #museum #deltastate #roadtrips #artsymoments https://www.instagram.com/p/B8b8Q-dpaiA/?igshid=srs8v28f9jzb
