1. How did you convince your parents to let you dye your hair pink? 2. What brand/shade of dye do you use? 3. What is your natural color, and is it hard to maintain the pink?
Publishing this because multiple people have asked me this before...
1. Hmmm well my dad doesn't care, and I just pulled the "but you did it when you were my age" card on my mom. I also just told her that a) its better for me to do i before i actually need to get a job and b) that I can easily dye a normal color over it if i need to. For those in need of convincing reluctant parents to let them dye hair, the best strategy is just to start being really polite to them, and then just propose it in a really subtle way one day, follow by a few weeks of being really responsible and dressing in a subdued way and then the rest is history.
2. I use Special Effects hair dye, either Atomic Pink or Cupcake Pink.
3. My natural color is a dark blond, so i had to bleach it beforehand. Since Special Effects hair dye doesn't fade very quickly, I rarely have to dye it at all, but i do have to bleach/dye my roots every 2 months or so. But for anyone interested, pink hair w/ dark roots actually looks pretty great, so roots aren't a huge problem.
