     He clicks his tongue. More reflex than refutation.

Ichigo doesn’t look at him right away. He leans against the ruined wall, arms loosely crossed, gaze turned toward the skyline that still flickers with lingering reishi of dissolving hollow. The fight’s barely settled. Dust in his lungs, blood drying sharp on the edge of his sleeve. Not his for once. 

He exhales, slow through his nose. 

“Allies of convenience, huh.” The words come low, thoughtful. He can’t argue it. Won’t. He knows exactly how thin this line is---how sharp Grimmjow’s edges are beneath it.

    And still.

“You say that like I forget who I’m talking to.” Now he looks, eyes cutting sideways, steady on Grimmjow, mouth tugging faint at the corner—not quite a smile, not quite not. “Convenient or not, I know damn well where your sword lands when it matters.” In the enemy. And their enemies have been mostly the same lately.

And that’s good enough.

He shifts, shoulder rolling off the stone. Doesn’t press for more than Grimmjow’s willing to give. Doesn’t chase the space between them. Just lets it be what it is. A fragile alliance. Prickly, biting, full of snark, but somehow, still holding.

         “Anyway,” speaking of snark. A smirk, “I didn’t ask.”

Gonna light your ass on fire. Just a little bit. April Fools. 

He just goes and does whatever he can to put it out as fast as possible.

Oh no! The worst time of the year to get a cold. I suspect I’m getting one myself (where I got it, who the hell knows). Drink lots of tea and take steaming showers, this too shall pass! Wish I was there to help you wrap gifts :(
