Everyone knows the Tsarnaev brothers murdered Officer Sean Collier, right?Well, if you religiously trust in the politicians and their media pals, then “everyone knows” Tamerlan pulled the trigger while Dzhokhar served as his accomplice. Anyone who questions this semi-official story surely must be some kind of nut.
Perhaps. But what about the third gunman who was also on the loose in the vicinity of MIT that night?

Are we simply to pretend he didn’t exist?
And are we to conveniently forget that there were no witnesses to Collier’s murder? Are we to forget that MIT’s surveillance video also failed to positively identify the brothers?

Sorry, guesswork isn’t good enough for me, especially where terrorism is concerned. Due to the authorities’ and most of the media’s laziness in this case, the whole truth of what happened to Officer Collier may never fully come to light. His killer(s) might even still be at large, for all we actually “know.”
It is time to bring back old-school rules of evidence and good old-fashioned investigative journalism. No more sloppy and lazy assumptions that all too often jeopardize the public safety.
One day I will learn how to colour dark gifs. Today is not that day.
