129. This year is the 150th anniversary of the first Transcontinental Railroad, which opened up rapid (for the time) access across the United States. The original event in 1869 was celebrated as the Central Pacific Railroad locomotive “Jupiter” and the Union Pacific Railroad locomotive #119 came nose-to-nose as a Golden Spike was driven into the final section of track. Well, we firmly believe that every good anniversary deserves cake! Recreate the Jupiter, or #119, or both, made entirely from cake.

Read this article to understand what happened and why the orange shirt has become an emblem for supporting Indigenous children, then create an orange shirt poster design that reads “Every Child Matters.” (To avoid cultural appropriation, do not use Indigenous symbols unless you are personally Indigenous.) Post your poster image to social media with a link to https://www.irsss.ca/ or another Indigenous Canadian group to show support.
